I mean, to be fair, Foluke is a veteran, and I'm not sure having six of your seven starters being Olympic newbies is a good thing. She seems like a leader/calming influence on the court, particularly after returning as a mother. But it's pretty clear that numbers-wise, as far as we can tell, Chi on paper should be starting. Idk. Washington wasn't good today. She was late to the block way more than Foluke was. I always pictured a starting lineup with Chi as the M2 in front of the setter and Foluke running slides as the M1. I get Haleigh's play has really improved and she definitely was awesome during the VNL...but again, how much is Karch taking into account her serving and energy on-court? I feel like there's more to it than numbers but I'm not sure what all the staff is looking at. |

Agreed.
I think Chi tends to hang her head on a bad play. Washington has a good serve and keeps the team loose.
Haleigh also played well against Turkey in the VNL.

I fell asleep after the first two sets of Turkey-Italy, but opinion is still the same. Have to limit their middle usage and reduce how much their lefts are scoring.

I predict a tough match, but if US can perform up to their normal level, US may have slighly higher odds of winning.  Anyone willing to have the courage and join me in this prediction? |

I think we win. I'd prefer to see a little more balance offensively, but if we keep passing and playing defense at this level coupled with our fast offense and tough serves, we should match up well with Turkey.

How will Turkey target US? Serve MBH exclusively. China gave JWO and Larson 28 combined. that's too many. They have to force MBH's seam to make Larson and MBH move. China also practically threw the ball over. |
