When LA was “selected” for 2028 the IOC made specific mention of LA’s proposal needing very little site / infrastructure construction that they’ll be using mostly existing sites for the games. For LA, 97% of the necessary permanent structures are already built/available. The focus of preparation is infrastructure projects (especially around public transit) and the non-permanent facilities.

Seems like such a waste of money and resources. Especially if facilities are built, used for 2 weeks, and then abandoned.

Not sure why bigger countries dont host more as countries rather than as cities. Would conserve infrastructure and make it much more likely that the stuff that is built would be used. Also would bring more money in as fans fly around the host country to follow their teams.
