Wondering where all the genius experts are who after the Russia lost said this team was performing below mediocre with the wrong 12 players coached by an incompetent? They just won a brutal pool with two starters out. Still don't think we have the right players, but we have enough talent to best Italy with Egonu playing at all close to her potential. I thought Carlini would be picked over Micha, although I wasn’t shocked she wasn’t. The other selections were exactly what I thought would and should happen. |

Italy losing to China is something the US didn’t do. Russia losing to Turkey is something the US didn’t do. We outperformed, not outlucked both of those teams vs both those opponents, that isn’t luck. You’re literally saying “well, if Italy didn’t lose to China, and Russia would have beaten Turkey, we wouldn’t have won pool” THOSE THINGS ACTUALLY HAPPENED, and they determined who won on an actual volleyball court. Sure, the US beat those teams that Russia and Italy did not. However, the results of those other teams winning or losing to teams the US beat is completely out of the US's control. With the way China was playing, did anyone think Italy would lose to them? What Italy and Russia did vs China and Turkey isn’t within our control, what we did against those teams was. We did what Italy and Russia couldn’t, and that isn’t luck, it’s outperforming teams who all had the same tough schedule. Period. |

Whether luck played a part or not is irrelevant to the US beating those teams. I stated it was out of the US's control whether Italy/Turkey/ROC/China won or lost when they played each other. That is the luck part of the whole equation. US had zero impact in the outcomes of those matches... other than providing video on what to do or not do when they played them. |

I'd say fumbled is accurate towards Karch's coaching ability and not the players actually playing. |

sorry if this question is a repeat.
since JP & JT are both injured, will they call the alternates to participate in the games? If so, i'm assuming carlini would be called. but who would be JT's replacement? (Plummer or SWP)?
I'm thinking the logistics would be difficult because would the incoming athletes have to quarantine or something upon arrival in japan?

Alternates would have had to have joined before the first match. Once matches start what you have is what you have. |
