This match interests me because on one hand, USA can toss it (which I i get it, they absolutely won’t) and match up with Brazil. Or they can try and win, and if successful it’s a 50/50 chance to play either Korea or Serbia. Losing this match basically guarantees they won’t play Serbia Serbia isn’t terribly scary. If Gonch can destroy the US, so can Bosko 🤷🏻♂️

Boskovic was pissing me off with some of her missed serves and errors on easy chances and don’t even get me started on how maja played

They lacked energy and on one point Maja tried bump setting and it went way over the net and out haha. I think that’s when I had enough lol

They did look low energy and like they didn’t really care but I don’t wanna be that fan that’s like “my team only lost because they weren’t trying blah blah blah”

USAV could use a win here today. I don't think it will happen though.

I don't think the USA will win anymore indoor volleyball matches at these Olympics.

Do we already know JT is out? Where's the confirmation?

Do we already know JT is out? Where's the confirmation? Karch said she wouldn't be ready for Italy, but should be ready for the QFs.

If Poulter plays at the level she is capable of AND Bartsch and Drews show up, this match will be fun. I still think Chi should start over Foluke. She could be the difference maker.

If already answered excuse me, but does a USA win or loss today change who we play in QFs?

If already answered excuse me, but does a USA win or loss today change who we play in QFs? It absolutely does. They could end up anywhere from 1st, 3rd or 4th in the pool. 2nd won't happen because ROC is already ahead of USA by a wide points W/L ratio. So if USA beats Italy and Turkey beats Russia, the USA takes the top spot. If USA loses to Italy and ROC beats Turkey, then the USA stays in 3rd. If USA loses to Italy and Turkey beats ROC then the USA will be in 4th.

So USA's best position is 3rd and the first team we'd play in QFs would be South Korea.

If USA loses to Italy and Turkey beats ROC then the USA will be in 4th. USA can be 2nd, but it doesn't matter who is 2nd/3rd because it's a draw. If USA and Russia both sweep, Russia is #1 and USA is #2 (unless USA beat Italy by a ridiculous margin, not happening). If USA sweeps and Russia wins 3-1, USA would own the set ratio over Russia. Set ratio is a step before point ratio in tiebreakers.

So USA's best position is 3rd and the first team we'd play in QFs would be South Korea. The QFs work like this: 1A vs 4B and 1B vs 4A... but the #2 and #3 teams in the pool are drawn randomly for the crossover matches... so it'll either be 2A vs 3B and 2B vs 3A... or it could be 2A vs 2B and 3A vs 3B.... we won't know until tomorrow which it will be. If USA comes in 4 we'll play Brazil.
