How do you guys feel about NBC dictating who plays when after finding out the result of the QF draw.
USA was slotted to play prime time no matter what, so them choosing KOR-TURKEY to play opener match instead of SRB-ITA and have them camp out at the other bracket just feels like a manipulation to ensure an easier path for USA to finals.

Omg no. This is your third post on this and people have pointed out that this isnt the case, but you’re ignoring those posts? Idk. Italy-Serbia winner will still play the USA-DR winner. You’re confusing broadcasting times with a draw

I find it every strange that USA's matches in volleyball (indoor & beach) have apparently been set up to avoid the overnight hours in the US, but this hasn't happened to the same extent with basketball or soccer. Also, some of those volleyball matches haven't even been broadcast live on either NBC or cable channels.

Every single US women’s beach match has been scheduled for 8 pm Eastern, the first hour of NBC’s prime time coverage. I don’t think that’s a coincidence. The beach medal matches are all scheduled for 9 and 10:30 pm Eastern, perfect for NBC but not so much for the rest of the world. Obviously NBC is heavily invested in promoting the beach matches and is undoubtedly rooting for April and Alix to advance.

And as noted in the other thread, April and Alix are the only team to not get a day off between the round of 16 and the quarter finals. This is to ensure they get the 8 pm eastern slot both days.

NBC has a hand in beach. we know that, because that's highly viewed.
NBC doesnt have a hand in soccer, because they dont have a morning session. There's no perfect time for USA.
Volleyball isnt high on NBCs pecking order. They may have preferred the 11pm CT start because they could show that live on NBC (after the primetime coverage)

Volleyball doesn't seem super affected by NBC.

The only thing NBC dictates at the olympics is payouts to women molested by Matt Lauer...

It makes me wonder why NBC has reduced its support of the AVP in recent years, as it could be viewed as a tour likely to develop Olympic champions. Maybe that will change with the reported Peacock coverage with Bally’s. I know NBC paid a fortune for their rights but it’s still pretty impressive how much clout they have at the international level.

But clearly it's no coincidence that I think every single USA group stage beach volleyball match took place either in USA evening prime time or the morning hours (7 AM or 8 AM CT or so), and that the USA indoor games were 9 pm CT starts or 7:45 am CT starts.
