Brazil hasn't looked good all year, IMO. Their A team performance at VNL looked the same here at the Olympics. I'm sure people thought that Brazil had another level to go to, but just wasn't seeing it, not this year. The path for USA win seemed so clear to me. I honestly think they played better in the VNL final. This is the worst Brazil has looked, maybe ever.....and that's saying something. They looked pretty lost in 2018 too. Ze just rode his golden generation for too long and there were apparently massive gaps in the pipeline he was trying to cover up. There is some exciting youth for Brazil in the gym now or about to be. We will see them return to decent form by the LA quad for sure. Paris? Maybe. Brazil didn't have its big middles to hold the USA block. That was so evident from the beginning of the VNL. I honestly don't know who stays around for Brazil except Gabi. And yes.. I do hope she continues to get blocked.

None of that excites me outside Gabi and maybe Roberta. Are Brazillian fans really wanting those players to stick around?

If she does serve a suspension will that affect all international play or just the Olympics? I'm curious if Ze will invite her next season for the WCH's?

Final comment for me. Overall the USA team was the most balanced team in the tournament. Many commenters here under-rated this team because it lacked the spectacular OHs like Boskovic and Egonu. But notably, those who select the OHs of the tournament picked Larson and MBH. What some people continue to not understand is that in the international game being an elite OH isn't just based on spectacular hitting but also in the ability to be an elite serve receive passer. The fact is that the USA offense was able to run effectively more consistently than any other team precisely because the USA combo of Larson-JWO-MBH was by far the best serve receive passing combo in the tournament. Those who are looking forward to seeing the next generation of OHs step in now and replace Larson and possibly MBH should be careful what they wish for. Their serve receive passing, leadership, and overall savvy play are going to be incredibly hard to replace. Great balanced team. Great win. Enjoy and savor it. 100 percent truth. I'm no expert, but will ALWAYS agree with John Cook (NU coach) in that excellent receive and excellent passing wins games. I don't care who your OH is, passing is always gonna win over. This is why I think Jordan Larson is the GOAT for American players.

I’m not sure she’ll be back anyways. (Suspended or not)

Hahaha: "On this day, the Brazilians simply had no answer for the murderous left hand of Annie Drews, who led the Americans with 15 points and sent so many screaming rockets over the net you half-assumed some poor Brazilian was going to emerge with Mikasa V200W stamped across her forehead"

Are Brazillian fans really wanting those players to stick around? Some young talented players are coming. Of course Ana Cristina, plus a bunch of girls who are gonna make their “debut” in the next U18 WC (september). Hairton Cabral said that those kids are really good.

We need more teams to stay elite so that we can keep these medals in the Americas. #NORCECA #CSV Europe is only getting better and deeper with each year. They didn't dominate the podium here like they did in 2018 but their time is coming.
