They were probably counting 9 people for 10 gold medals and thought they were missing a person; Ledecky had 2 (they also misspelled Katie's name).

To all Karch haters, I TOLD YOU SO. Who's your daddy now, b*tch?! All you people saying US can't get the gold because of Karch, well, you got egg on your faces now. so who's your daddy now??? Karch had to deal with cancer while coaching and he didn't even tell the girls on the team about it. That's stoic and brave. While all you people were hurling insults at him, he just took it on the chin and continue to do his job the best he can despite his illness. Thankfully he has recovered from cancer, but I just want to say you lot really owe him an APOLOGY. So say it. You really don't get it, do you? Do you need a much longer ban? Look, I was just getting that off my chest, I don't do that for every post I make, come on. Some posters agree with my view that Karch can coach how he sees fit. Maybe the way I said it rub some the wrong way, but I was making a legitimate point here. Anyway, I said what I needed to say on that subject, so ok, I will tone it down, alright? I don't report all the attacks on me because my view is that I prefer a free flow of discussion. But ok, I will report all personal attacks against me from now on, just to show the nastiness of some posters and the grudge they have against me, ok?

Replay of the gold match available in the Olympic Youtube Channel. Link below: Impressive, this is fast. Unlike Rio gold medal match where we have to wait like 3 years after Rio to see it on youtube (officially at least).

If you are referring to Kathryn Plummer, the author said that, on team sports, he was including team alternates.

You could see how much this meant to them after so many close-calls in previous Olympics.

You could see how much this meant to them after so many close-calls in previous Olympics. Not to be redundant, but also his knowing it was possible that he might not have been there for it. Reality can hit hard. Such an amazing feat for all of them—trainers, team docs, dietitians, etc! So happy for all.

So happy for all. Totally. I think in a way this meant more to Karch than his own gold medals as a player. And I suspect in the back of their minds, the team also saluted their predecessors, who came close but never could reach gold. I am sure some of the former USNT players were also moved to tears watching the women team finally claim gold.

Thanks for posting this, really good listen. The kumbya prior to the gold medal match was real. Ironically, Ted Lasso's soccer team did the same thing on this week's episode.
