I’m surprised how these roster athletes are just getting taller. I checked some and one that stood out to me is Stanford. I think Kipp is 6’6? That’s very tall on the outside. Several of their freshmen are 6’3-6’4.
I know Wisconsin was tall last year with Rettke at 6’6 or 6’7? And their other MB as well.

Rettke is 6'8". Anna Smerk (MB) is 6'9". Julia Wohlert (MB/RS) is 6'7". Hart is 6'4". I haven't followed the WI thread but my guess is that Rettke and Hart will start at MB. Robinson could start at MB or as opp. She's 6'2"> Orzol may be on the right or the left. She's 6'0". Demps (6'2") and Loberg (6'3") may be the OHs but it would be good if someone who follows Wisconsin more closely guessed next season's starters.
Kipp is "only" 6'5" per the Stanford roster.
The heights of the Stanford players most likely to start are: Sami Francis 6'6" (opp) Kendall Kipp 6'5" (OH) Leilah Smith 6'5" (MB) Holly Campbell 6'3" (MB) Caitie Baird 6'3" (OH)
All the setters (Xu, Miner, Greene) are listed at 6'0" except Tufuga (6'1") who will be one of the backups.
Elena Oglivie 5'10" (L)
I'm not sure who will DS Alex Lougeay 5'11" Taylor Beaven 5'8" Maiya Tillman 5'10"
Other players: Natalie Berty 6'3" OH Annabelle Smith 6'2" MB McKenna Vicini 6'2" MB Mackenzie Fidelak 6'1" opp

Does size matter? Not as much as you may think. I prefer speed, leaping ability, and fast arms. Oh, also a competitive spirit. Very few tall athletes have those traits.

Will there come a time when they consider raising the women's net? I'm 6'2" and played on a men's net. These athletes are taller than me and many can leap higher than I could, playing on a much shorter net.

I disagree that "very few tall athletes" have speed, leaping ability, or fast arms, but as the old saying goes, you can't teach height.

These athletes are taller than me and many can leap higher than I could, playing on a much shorter net. I don’t think so any time soon. Even at the highest level of the women’s game (which we saw at the Olympics), there were still many rallies, unlike the men’s game where it was bomb your serve or the point is over. I imagine the jump touch of an elite men’s player is significantly greater than the approximate 8” different in net height. Net increase needs to happen there well before it does on the women’s side. By the way, height does matter significantly, as I’ve seen not quite as athletic tall players find great success. Certainly there are many other factors and being tall doesn’t mean you will be the best, but it is a good start. Also, the elite programs get those that not only have the height, but many of those other attributes listed. For example, Kendall Kipp is not only tall, but jumps very well and has some good speed. Also, that kid is a competitor.

I often muse on how UWs shortest starter is 6' (setter) with an even taller libero at 6'2". This is definitely UWs all time tallest team.
Starting 6:
Opp: Drechsel 6'4" MB: Sanders 6'4" MB: Grote 6'4" OH: Hoffman 6'2" S: Powell 6' L: Crenshaw 6'2" Avg: 6'2.6"

Yeah, you are going to have to have tall DSs in order to win this contest. Otherwise they will be dragging down the average ht too much.

The tallest team by average roster height last year was Stanford.

Yeah, you are going to have to have tall DSs in order to win this contest. Otherwise they will be dragging down the average ht too much. especially since the question was about the tallest TEAM, which would count everyone on the roster, whether they actually played or not.

I went to the zoo and officially drafted 6 giraffes onto a "volleyball team". They totally suck at volleyball, as they are more concerned with eating leaves and stuff, but they are the tallest

Does this include trainers and coaches?
