Ana Patricia needs to have a better attitude if she wants to succeed with Duda. I can't see Duda dealing with Ana Patricia's bad attitude for 2 years. But maybe Ana will be very happy to be pairing with Duda and starts being positive like Agatha. If she wants to dominate week to week she does, and I hate her attitude and the way she quit at the Olympics but with her talent, even the way she is now, they will win plenty. Agatha is an excellent player, and that team has had a ton of success, but there was too much point scoring onus on Duda. Agatha just didn't occupy the space players like Pavs, Joanna, Alix and Brandie do. Ana does. I'd be very surprised if they win less than a third of the events they enter, even with her crummy attitude. Comparing them to the Ateam, current world no. 1, Duda is a better defender, server and attacker than April and has room to grow. Ana is about even with Alix in siding out and blocking, although both are very inconsistent, slow, and neither is a ball control wiz - although Ana does handset sometimes. Other than not having Ana's attitude, not sure where the Ateam really has an advantage over this team. Duda is the best female player and I don't think there's a discussion for another player to be #1. Teams avoid her like the plague. She's been hitting on-two very well recently. Ana has a weak mental game and lets it affect her serve receive. I can see them losing tight games if Ana fudges a few serves. Duda/Ana definitely win or make top 4 in most of the tournaments they play. AP is an upgrade from Agatha but Duda/Agatha had good chemistry and temperament. Will be interesting to see how they deal with adversity.

Many brazilian players are known to be moody and bad team mates at times. Unfortunately it has always been like that (at least as far as I can tell as an outside spectator). Yeah, it's a cultural thing. People call it being very passionate but imo it's a waste of energy. Duda is one of my favourite players and I'd hate to see her game be affected by AP's bad attitude. Maybe with lots of success and the pressure to perform because they will be Brazils #1 team, will make her change her attitude.

From Agathas instagram post it seemed like she was calming everyone down from freaking out and having so many questions. I thought everyone already kneww this was happeining haha Multiple people on the YouTube chat are saying Agatha is taking time off to start a family.

That had long been her plan, but at some point she considered to postpone it - probably because of the shorter period until Tokyo....the fact that no potential partner has leaked until now makes me believe that's what's going to happen

Alix and Ana's fluctuating focus and commitment and the persistent schitzophrenia of MHPavs. Add in another top 10 team that just broke up for non VB reasons - Slaes - and its As the World Turns on the women's side

To me, that sounds like they might retire. I think people aren't scared of Mel and Sarah anymore. Cancun really exposed Sarah's passing. I would serve her the whole game, personally. Duda/AP is interesting. Will have to wait and see how great they can be. Slaes splitting is such a %*$# show. They are the 2nd best defender and blocker in the US, so they should play together but both will now choose lesser partners to play with. Women's side is very open.

MHPavs had a crummy year, no getting around it, but the Cancun events could have been designed to make giant blockers fail so can't be taken as representative. (Natural beach, heavy wind, etc.) No player who won in Cancun was over 6 feet tall and the average height of players on the winning teams was 5'10. Of the teams that made the finals, 1 of 10 players was at least 6'1 (Pavs) For comparison, in the other 5 full field events, every winner except Dudatha had a player 6'2 or taller, the average height of players on winning teams was 6'1. Of the 14 players who made a final, 8 were 6'2 or taller. Cancun was a great throwback event because of the weather, natural beach etc. but the fact that Pavs struggled there was based on weather, and it was the same reason Alix, Ana, Joanna, etc. struggled.

Interesting, good analysis. I guess the quicker you are on your feet the better you play in the wind. After Cancun I do feel like people served Pavan more, though.

Joana had COVID during Cancun. Missed the first two events and couldn’t train before the third.

I saw their match against Stockolinske and unless a symptom of Covid is lousy ball control the wind murdered them. They looked very similar to how they did at Huntington in 2018 where the wind led to them losing to Reeves/Howard and finishing 17th. These big indoor style players struggle in real beach conditions. Im sure the Covid played a role, but they just couldn't control the ball.
