Varenhorst/van de velde win 16-14 over Qatar in the QF and will be playing Norway in the SF. Qatar almost got back into the match, down 11-14 and tying it 14-14 but van de velde ends the game with an ace. Van de Velde was blocking on Varenhorst’s serves. Don’t remember seeing that before. Qatar blew an 18-15 lead in the first set, aided by a questionable lift call on Ahmed.

I decided to do some digging on VK about the Russian teams. Apparently, Kras/Stoya are fine. They just had a long season and decided to end it after the Olympics. In regards to Semenov, nobody seems to really know what's going on and the rumors are flying. Hail Theo. What kind of rumors? In general, personal problems. Some people have said that his mother has passed away, but others say this isn't true. So, i'm not really sure. However, Kostya has always had somewhat of a contentious relationship with Leshykov and been a bit of a prick, so maybe things are just running their course?

In his IG story a day or two ago, Semenov himself said the rumors about his mother were not true. He also said (translated from Russian): "regarding my behavior on the court, it's not for you to judge, there's much you don't know. And praise God, I'd rather be the target than for you to uncover the whole truth"

Still haven’t seen video of Semenov’s antics, as YouTube seems to have taken down those matches, but people were talking about it in the chats of other matches. Apparently he was hitting serve receives over on one, then hitting balls into the net intentionally. Sounds like an embarrassment to the sport.

Looks like the Tokyo Olympic champs on the mens side will also be playing for bronze tomorrow…

And just after I posted that, Mol goes from 11-15 to 16-15...

What a fricking comeback for Norway down 11-15 and coming back to win 21-18 in this Set 2. Tiebreak set coming.

Wow, the resilience by the Vikings 😳. Mol was having a miserable time just minutes ago.

Looks like the Tokyo Olympic champs on the mens side will also be playing for bronze tomorrow… 21 minutes later, Norway has confirmed their spot in the GOLD medal match instead. Dang, forgot that Mol is inhumane sometimes and can take over a match when he's asked to! But it didn't help that the Dutch choked even with a 15-11 lead and 6 points away from what would've been a straight sets victory!

I actually stopped watching in the second set because I was sure that the Norwegians were going to lose. I can't seem to find the replay on youtube. Anyone has it?
