Coakley listed as UCLA. Lol I was saying this the other day. If USC manages to pull this out again, this one good player leaving UCLA and joining USC was the reason. I had heard when Stein left, the new coach had approached Coakley trying to reduce the scholarship money and this sort of had her rethinking her commitment. This along with Pater's friendship may have done it.

Mostly for the humor I’m going to make my May rankings prediction. 1. TCU 2. USC 3. Cal Poly 4. Stanford 5. LSU 6. UCLA No UT. I agree. They did really poorly this last tournament against TCU and LSU. They have some good European players now and for some reason they just haven't played so far.

Stein has been late to play the European recruit game for quite a while. He's playing catch-up and I don't think he knows the market well enough yet.

I think most of their current European recruiting is coming from Angie Akers, former Dutch national team coach. She has strong ties to the European circuit.

Really good to see Karl/Young beat LMU’s Rabitsch/Reffel 21-16, 21-15 and go 2-0 in their pool. If Delaney and Kaylee could combine to be an effective, consistent 5s pair, one of our biggest concerns would be alleviated. Let’s see how they do against LMU’s Poletti-Corrales/Rosenthal tomorrow. Later update: Trojans got 2nd, 3rd, 3rd. http://instagram.com/p/DB92-zCyrXs

Looks like USC is still very much at least a co-favorite for the title. They've done well against LMU and Cal Poly in the fall tournaments, who imo are top 5/6 teams themselves.

Annual Sandcast with Dain dropped today. He brought Maddi White who is so well spoken. I don’t think I’ve ever seen her give an interview before, but kudos to her. Can’t say we learned anything new, though the conversation was excellent as always.… maybe Dain’s opinion that it’s unlikely for schools to fully fund 19 scholarships for Fall 2025 when the new rules start. Also, got reminder that the NCAA players can now play in domestic tournaments during the portion of the school year with 8hr/wk practice limits. Used to only be international competition. Maybe also tidbit that USC might be doing more international recruiting so Līva Ēbere (and Calinda Kok) will not be the rare exception. In addition, they only mentioned one current grad transfer (Gessner) so maybe Ally Batenhorst won’t play beach. Dain reinforced that he doesn’t put much stock into the AVCA Fall Pairs Championship so we’ll have to see who shows up for USC. Episode was recorded 5-6 weeks ago so maybe Travis banked a few before moving to Tallahassee. Wonder how they’ll continue the podcast on video at least.

USC should have no problem sponsoring 12 scholarships for a program that's been single handedly carrying the school's natty count for the past 7 years. Or at least they better. The headcount reduction will be interesting to see how other programs unfold. USC has never really boasted huge rosters but Travis with now FSU and many other programs will have to make big cuts. Also was interesting and almost awkward with the AVCA Fall Pairs championship question asked by Travis since it's obvious that Dain places no importance on this tournament. Every other program sends their best athletes and top pairs while USC always sends new faces (freshmen/transfers) for tournament and travel exposure. It seems like Dain didn't wanna delve too much into this (perhaps it's a strategy he wants to keep to himself) so he was really trying to dodge and dismiss the question. If I had to guess who they're sending this year, it would be the transfers and Coakley. Coakley/Henson Gessner/Truslow?

I bet they don’t go to 12. There will be schools north of that I think as there are already a lot of programs with NIL in better shape.
UC will add a couple. It’s sad as it’s the model program at the school but I bet he gets 2-4 more.

I hate to be a jerk, but that’s a horribly written article.
