Barnesnclark back in Sept mentioned that this incoming class is lacking in height. Now that the freshmen have been added to the 2022 roster, we can see their listed heights.
Colby Bennett - 5’9” Tatiana Rusich 5’8” Ava Gallien 5’10” Ava Kirunchyk 5’8” Eden McCoy 5’7” Savannah Davis 5’’9”
Sunny Villapando 5’9” Caroline Schafer 6’0”
Methinks Dain and staff will be receptive to transfer blockers for next year. Graudina, Scoles, and Schafer will be gone leaving Kraft and Nourse. Can’t count on the tall 2022 recruits carrying the blocking load at pairs 3-5. Cummings and/or Harper Hallgren could step up and earn a starting spot. Lose a bunch of defenders too with Slater, Villapando Harward , and Dreeuws leaving. There appear to be more high level defender replacement options though with Bakos, Walker and many others.

Julia Scoles: "The balance of having fun while holding a certain level of intensity that is required for competitive athletics is tough. Lately it’s been on my mind that I may be having a little too much fun. My one goal is to strive towards my potential and steward my gifts to the best of my ability. Don’t get me wrong, sports are supposed to be fun but if you aren’t holding yourself to a standard and defining what it means for you to work your hardest day in and day out you’re not going to reach all you were created to be as an athlete and person." http://instagr.am/p/CVypu5_vllI

There appear to be more high level defender replacement options though with Bakos, Walker and many others. He may be forced pair these defenders up and either split block or designate one as the "blocker. All the 2022's except for perhaps White are able blockers. I'd love to see some blockers transfer in but as they say, you can chase tall and get away from volleyball. I like what I've seen from Van Duesen and Showalter too. They are getting better at a fast clip. I sort of seen this coming over the years in juniors beach. Shorter athletes committing at ages 10 and 11 to beach, while the taller girls sticking with indoor. Now we're seeing whole classes of the best beach players and very few are tall. They best beach players are more like hybrids. Taller than indoor liberos, but not near the size of indoor attackers. So in the past a tall indoor player could eventually show up on the beach court and hang, now they show up and get outmatched by these shorter players and get turned off on the sport.

Has the schedule been released yet? I haven't seen any but in speaking with some athletes and coaches in the Pac-12 it seems schedule releases will be coming pretty quick. USC's lineup is LOADED. They were solid already but adding in experienced grad transfers like they have there is bound to be talent that won't see the court.

Wishing the best for Haley and her family. It’s really amazing how far cancer treatments have come in the past couple of decades. Gotta stay positive.
Even if the 2022 USC Beach schedule were to come out in the near future, it would likely be amended a few times before the season. Still, will be interesting to check out which teams are unafraid to face the Trojans. Last year, something like 18% of the matches were against the Bruins.
Want to add a little observation that if Cummings and Bakos were Pair #5 against LMU, then they handily won. Pairs 6 & 7 not doing well.
