We’ve also seen the Bruins learn the Trojans’ tendencies over the course of a season so switching pairs half way through reduces that level of comfort. Just like how most starting baseball pitchers often are not nearly as effective against batters the third time through the lineup. Not saying this is going to happen… just pointing out the benefits. A bit intrigued that Shannon Scully got the nod for the exhibition match. A bit disappointed that Schafer/Villapando didn’t dominate more at the Fives. That was surprising for former #1 flight players from other schools. |

I have no idea who's putting in the effort and who isn't, who's on a roll and who's not. But if I were to put money down from what I've seen over the last few years. I'd take Bakos and Halgren over these pairs. |

I can see why Dain started here (this 5s) pairing, but I think we’ll see some movement in the 5s in particular.

I didn’t read carefully enough the usctrojans.com story that volley2022 posted. Seems like the Trojans experienced difficulty adjusting to the windy conditions at Long Beach resulting in the first set troubles. Even Graudina/Harward were down 11-2 in the first set before coming back to win.

USC Beach added its Notebook for this weekend: usctrojans.com/documents/2022/3/4/22uscbvb0304.pdfComments: - 24 players on the roster. I do not believe USC has ever had so many players make it to the start of the season. Normally many freshmen quit rather than commit to practice time and no chance of playing. - Hughes with 190 career wins. No one is going to get close to that (47.5 wins x4) unless the NCAA reinstitutes the Pairs Championship. Volley2022, please see my comments added to above post. |
