With most jr. boys going with AAU/SoCal cup, is it still beneficial or necessary to be a member of SCVA/USA for future USA events/ teams?

NTDP (previously known as HP), NBT Beach events, National teams, and other events are likely to require a USAV membership.

I have heard a handful out of the SCVA are doing AAU. Boys of all levels of club sports follow each other. It is usually all or nothing. Historically the only people who attend AAU are Florida and East Coast teams. So if most of the SCVA is attending AAU I am sure more of the country will follow.

We just signed paperwork with our club a few nights ago (a Tier 1 club in SoCal) and didn't even fill out SCVA/USAV paperwork for 2021-2022. Only AAU/So Cal Cup. Registered for two travel tourneys, Milwaukee in Nov and Orlando in June. That's it. Based on Balboa's recent post on IG, it seems they're doing the same, which probably means there will be many others who follow suit. Not sure how things got to this point, but here we are...

So is there any club that stands to benefit, financially or otherwise, from So Cal Cup qualifying as an AAU event?
I’m not 100% sure of the reason top teams are looking to abandon ship but just looking at the fact that certain clubs are starting to branch into running girls programs, I feel like money is on the minds of at least a few places…

The only financial benefit they would get is from hosting a tournament which you could see more clubs trying to do so so avoid qualifiers and the additional USAV/Region fees. Across the country it is extremely difficult to run stand alone boys clubs. Indiana for instance used to have three but with tight resources as soon as a strong girls club with a facility and all of that get in the game it’s tough to compete with that. Chicago nearly every club has some sort of partnering with a girls program as financial backing to the boys. Some clubs are able to do it but there are really very few boys stand alone clubs nowadays.
