During that last time out, the usher right in the middle of the camera shot walked a couple steps up the aisle, got somebody's attention, and pointed at the person then pointed at his mask, clearly saying "Hey, put your mask on!"

Could we see Smrek on the right? Good to see Demps gets some experience at RS, and also wondering how Orzol would perform there. Loberg hsd an efficient night, too, so we are getting some different looks and hopefully we will get our line-up settled sooner than later.

Smrek was 'unavailable' tonight; injured or ill (though not COVID; she was on the sideline with the rest of the team). Yes, Robinson did well in the middle; not at all a surprise. But I don't know that Smrek has ever played outside; I really doubt that's an experiment they want to run now.

I was thinking Smrek on the right would be good and move Robinson to middle which is her natural position. Smrek could pose problems for opposing outsides and Robinson is quick and can pound from her natural position as well.

She's undersized and doesn't do incredibly well out of system.

Smrek could pose problems for opposing outsides and Robinson is quick and can pound from her natural position as well. I don't know if this is what you guys are referring to, but... It occurred to me to go back to the 5th set vs Maryland to see the last time Smrek was on the floor if she did anything 'visible', like twisted something or grimaced like she pulled something, etc., and I didn't see anything. But while I was looking, I noticed something else. In the 5th set and in the 4th, there are times and rotations when Smrek and Robinson are on the floor together and they quite unmistakably DO switch positions such that Robinson is playing as if she were the middle and Smrek were the right-side! And I don't mean a momentary criss-cross during a slide, etc; I mean set up to block and defend with Robinson in the middle and Smrek on the right. Particularly, in the 4th set UW gets the sideout at 4-4 and Robinson subs in. Hilley serves at 5-4 and they get the point. Before Hilley serves at 6-4, Smrek looks over at the bench, listens to somebody say something to her, she gets Robinson's attention, says something to her, and they both look back over to the bench and nod, etc. And when they go to defend the serve, Robinson is the middle and Smrek is the right. Hilley goes on a run and they remain switched through Civita's serve and until Smrek subs out at 12-6. Much the same thing at around 20-14 of the 4th, and again at around 7-5 in the 5th. I looked around 18-18 in the 1st and at around 8-7 in the 2nd and they were not doing this switch. FWIW

FWIW Yes, also it's because the outsides for Maryland were doing a great job at tooling the block, so moving Smrek to the Right to post would have been easier for her because all she would have needed to do was jump and post, instead of trying to close, jump, and post. Because Robinson is quick she could close faster while getting to the outside. I also think Robinson performs better in the middle because she has more court to work with on offense, rather than the Right. She's very crafty from that position, all positions for that matter. Also, from watching that game, it seemed like Robinson was in a funk on the Right. I'm pretty sure Sheffield or an assistant told Smrek to go to the Right. I also wouldn't doubt it if they put Robinson in the middle moving forward. I mean, watching her with the national team in her youth years, she was just a sight to see.

Courtney Thomas was only 6' and played RS her senior year and was an All-Americans,so I could see Orzol play there.
