As far as season ticket holders, I ordered my Wisconsin season tickets when the local daily COVID-19 rate was 2 per 100,000. It was 17 when the season started and 34 now. Thus, yep, I love volleyball, but I am not going. If they want to revoke my season tickets, fine. Why would they revoke your ticket for being a no-show?

They wouldn't, probably, but I have seen a lot of comments about season ticket holders on various threads. In this, of all seasons, there is a valid reason not to be there. If things were "normal," I would be there and vocal.

At this point, I think Maryland looks better than Michigan. Michigan and Michigan State might be the two worst teams in the B1G this season. Can't agree with this one. Michigan looked really good. Paige Jones was dynamic. Michigan played at a level I am not used to seeing from them.

Michigan played at a level I am not used to seeing from them. This was early on in the match when Michigan was playing lackluster. bprtbone later took the statement back. I'm not sure what made them click but when Michigan is on, they're ON.

I will have to respectfully disagree with a few posters regarding the crowd. They were heavily into this match and went nuts on the point where CC slammed into a chair on the bench and then ran across the court to make a great dig all in one sequence. A couple of reasons that made it a bit abnormal from a typical match.
1. The parking situation was the worst that I can remember. I took one of my alternative "back routes" to get to the game but was stymied by a police barrier. The main parking ramp was unavailable. Many people got to the match late and I wouldn't be shocked if others didn't make it at all.
2. As previously mentioned, masks clearly reduce some of the noise.
3. No pep band and for some reason almost no music was played during timeouts. It made a difference.

I had tickets for tonight but didn't go. High School tournament was going on. Put then up on FB but had no takers.

I know that I can’t yell as loudly with one on, and I assume others have the same issue.

I was in the Pav tonight, and aside from the third and fourth sets, the crowd seemed pretty loud to me! I do wonder if maybe the masks make the crowd not pick up on camera as much, because watching the highlights it was definitely louder than that in there.
I think it also might be partly based on the visual, too. The seat back section is way more empty than the rest of the crowd. Maybe the older crowd are sitting out the games, so the crowd looks less into it than usual. Im up in the balcony, so I didn't even really notice how empty the seat backs are until watching clips. Also might be something to do with the fact that people who can spend more on seat backs might not be the more rambunctious type.
Edit: Looks like those of us who were there all came in at once to defend the crowd. Haha

Couldn’t watch live How MI is not a top 25 caliber team is a mystery After a sluggish start they decided to make the necessary adjustments: Set a better block Upped their service pressure Improved their first touches FBSO increased with more dynamic sets particularly from OOS they eventually realized MN has no real middle attack Was there even one successful back slide?
Otoh MN let their foot off the serving gas Became more vanilla in their attack Didn’t respond well to the increased service pressure
There is obviously no coasting allowed in the B1G
Can’t wait to watch the WI match Yikes
ps. The Wenaas bump set at 8-7 that Samedy put away was the turning point IMO
Has Hugh ever made as many lineup tweaks midmatch? The on court chemistry needed shaking up

Everyone I saw was wearing one. But Pav is also a much bigger venue so it takes more noise to make it sound “loud”.

I've collected some final thoughts after sleeping on this one: - This was very much a microcosm performance from Michigan; totally out of it at times and other times where they look like they could be a Top 10 team. I'm hopeful that they can get more consistent as the season continues.
- I thought Hugh brining in Landfair was a big momentum changer. Not sure what her injury is/was but she certainly seemed healthy in those late sets.
- Blue needs better offensive production from its middles in order to compete with the top teams in the B1G. Jess Robinson was a mess last night; Boney is primarily a defensive force. This is where we are missing Bair as an option when Robinson is off.
- Michigan out blocked Minnesota 11-8; the turnaround improvement in their blocking game has been remarkable.
- I don't know what is left to be said about Samedy. Regardless the opponent, she looks like a grown woman playing amongst little girls. As a volleyball fan, I'm so glad she came back this season.
- How good would Minnesota be with an elite setter? (Sorry, I couldn't help myself)
Hats off to Minnesota for closing this one out; look forward to the rematch in Ann Arbor. Go Blue!

Landfair, down the stretch, was clutch! I really hope she gets more playing time against Maryland. Still curious what the status of her "injury" is, though... Lol, she's not injured anymore. She's been fine for some time. Simply, it was Miyabe's time to be the starter.
Landfair came out there and actually looked like she was trying to hit the ball as hard as she physically could! (Obviously, if you're actually injured, you can't do that)
She looked like she actually wanted it, rather than just being given the starting role for being ranked #1. Good for her!! That type of effort and passion has to be night-in, night-out, every set.
I have zero inside information and am just making wild guesses.

Watching it on tv it looked and sounded flat in there so thank you all for clarifying who were there. I'm glad it was a fun atmosphere for our players and fans. Go Gophers!

LOL at anyone even thinking they need to "justify" the Pav crowd.
It's one of the best in college volleyball, one of the highest attendance, and you can't get tickets. If people choose not to show up in this climate, then it is what it is, and we'll get back to normal eventually.
