Lexi is a senior leader on the Husker team. She may be the best left side blocker in the country. Ask Northwestern what took place in the 4th set when Lexi came in and put up a wall. She is also a great server and when she is on a great hitter. She gets a lot of press and photos.

IMO I do not think the hype around her recruiting and transfer compares to the steady ongoing hype during her three years at Nebraska. She has star quality totally separate from her volleyball skills, which can be graceful and thrilling. I'm not sure there has ever been a more photographed Nebraska volleyball player over three years playing time. And, she was the team point leader for two years. On top of all the hype, the clear expectation was she would become the next Foecke, Pavin, Larson. In only one year did she hit above .250 I'm new here. Someone help me out. Who in Nebraska volleyball history has had the attention, photo focus, adulation, hate, and chatter that Lexi has had the past two years? Rolfzens were scrutinized pretty hard.

I just don’t like Krause on the right. If she can’t earn the start on the left, not sure I want her playing Do you think that Batenhorst is bad on the left? GBR

Do they typically sub Hames out every once in a while? Seems weird Who knows anything anymore. I think we will know a bit more after this match.

I think if social media was around for 30-40 years, there would have been players who would have been scrutinized pretty hard.

I think Cook sent her a message. Time will tell if she got it.

How is that Batenhorst roll scoring? she’s hitting .375%, in her first B1G game, as a freshman. I will take that from anyone.. Me too!!

While Hames setting can be questionable at times, her floor defense is phenomenal. Which is why I believe that Cook would be very reluctant to pull her out as a setter. One goes with the other. IMHO

I like Lexi Sun. She's been one of my favorite players. One of the left side blocks she made yesterday was the best block I have seen in a long time. Perfect execution. She is a great player who can go off on some nights and be unstoppable. She's a leader and a winner. I like to see her on the floor. She lifts all the other players up.

Shutting NW down and ensuring a Husker win. All 5 of NE OH's got into the game. 4 played very critical roles. Lauenstein was a bit quiet, but her right side block subbing for Hames was important. I have not checked the stats. Just my observations.

Got to watch the replay and despite the non-top opponent, I thought Madi took some goooood swings. She looked about as good as I’ve seen her offensively.
Krause looked more comfortable on the right, and she wasn’t swinging into solo blocks so that was nice. Batenhorst also took some good swings, and her errors seem relatively easily fixable, in that sometimes her execution on certain shots just needs some refinement. I hope this lineup continues to gel and get comfortable on their roles

Ok i wasn’t able to watch most of the match, how did the team look? What did they do good? Stats look solid offensively for the most part They looked more comfortable. I thought Kubik and Batenhorst did a nice job, although Batenhorst HAS to get a better presence blocking. Sun came in for her in the 4th and immediately made the difference, but I would rather have Ally's arm on the floor. I thought Kubik really stepped up and hit a nice variety of shots and she's hitting the ball harder as well. Final % wasn't too impressive, but I feel it doesn't show what she did throughout match. Nicklin seemed to have better placement, which resulted in the higher %. Caffey was Caffey-Callie struggled hitting but good blocking presence (later in game). Krause had her best match. She really put some heat on her swings and looked more comfortable on the right. She mainly hit cross court, so moving forward I'd like to see more sharp angle and line, but she's a freshman and will adjust. She needed this game for confidence. You'll see people diss because we dropped a set, but NW is much improved. I was honestly impressed with their setter (when she wasn't attempting to go over on 2) and their OHs. Miller did a nice job for them in backrow as well, which was good to see. Biggest difference was our block took too long to make an impact and NW was putting too many balls away without even getting touches on the block. They finally figured it out by set 4 which is why the score was so lopsided. We also need to put more pressure on teams with our serve-it didn't disrupt much. I was okay with the match. Having this start to B1G will help immensely, and hopefully they'll be closer to where we need them to be by the time the OSU/Purdue/Minny/Wisc rolls around. Thanks for your objective comments. The only nit I would pick is, I would say I was impressed with Kubik's .289 hitting. It's up from the .000s and negatives our hitters have had this year. It's higher than any of Sun's three year averages ( .242, .270 & .195). And IMO does not look too bad compared with Foecke's .277, .304, .290 & .317.

I think Sun really has the ability to be pretty unstoppable. If she were to swing a bit higher, she would likely get a lot more kills. Foecke was great at getting full extension on her swings and hitting at the top of her jump, while I feel like Sun lets the ball drop a bit too much which results in her hitting into the block a lot. Would love to see her get that fixed because her blocking is insane.
