personally, I don't see being patriotic and talking about issues as mutually exclusive. but I'm glad she got her citizenship! it's a very big moment and that's awesome for her:) I'm not making any comments about any of that. Just reporting what the announcer said. It's not like it was an interview. She could have been quoted out of context for all I know. I just know I love when people talk about how appreciative they are to become citizens. Doesn't have to move the needle for everyone, but it did for me there. She was born behind the Iron Curtain (or sort of, anyway, Yugoslavia was a little bit of an exception) and was still a kid during the genocidal Bosnian War, so I expect her current life is far better than she grew up with. |

She just got her citizenship. The announcer was quoting her as saying how incredible the US is, and for those who go on and about its issues, you should spend some time in a different country and compare. A different country like the UK? Or Norway? Japan? or literally any other 1st world country? Because they are all so terrible right? Are we really going to go there? Holy crap. I liked the comment. Sue me. It's not like Tomasevic stripped off, paraded in red white and blue underwear, grabbed the PA mic, and announced it to the arena. The announcer was talking about her getting her citizenship. For the folks that aren't impressed by any of it, I certainly think that's fine. But to make an issue of it given how the statements were made and how they were relayed (maybe the announcer read it somewhere) is just getting worked up over nothing. |

I should have known better than to try to quote a quote all while paying attention to the game. But it was requested. If I'd know it would ruffle your feathers I honestly never would have posted it.
