Timmer had 3 aces in that 8-1 run for the Cougs after UW took a 4-0 lead. That turned the set.

UW: Weak serving. Weak Serve-receive. Weak block.

Let's see how WSU does in the PAC this year when they aren't in that gym.

Of all the crazy matches on this crazy weekend, this might have been the craziest.

It's going to be a long bus ride home. Do they always bus to Pullman? There was a 525pm flight. Though I guess they'd arrive at about the same time whether they bus'd or flew.

Correction: Magda’s serves cost the Cougs that set. Washington State had 5 service errors the 4th set. I don't hate the errors as much as others. Go for it. All the complaining about service errors, whether from fans or the talking heads, wouldn't bother me as much if there was more context. To me it's like watching Olympic diving and the diver just did some kind of quadruple spinning somersault and the only thing anyone can say is, "oh, but look at that splash." If they're consistently winning service points on their serve rotation, but they also have some service errors, who cares? On the other hand, if they never win any service points because their serve sucks, which allows the other team to consistently terminate on the return, and then they get a service error, who cares again? I'm not saying service errors don't matter, because they obviously do, but they are focused on out of context waaaaaaay too much.

My point was if a set is going 46-44.. at some point.. you want someone to rip it and just end the d*mn thing. OK, not a service error every play obviously, but 5 service errors in a 90 point set, I'm not going to be too upset about it. Also, to your point, I wouldn't be surprised if Magda is Wazzu's best server in points scored per rotation, for the context in this example. So, I'm not blaming her for serving errors if she constantly scores her teams points.

Losing points on a side out is percentage wise the expected result. And the focus on aces drives me nuts, too. Again, not that it's an immaterial statistic, but it doesn't include all kinds of serve receive results from the opponent that directly leads to points.
