I'm thinkin Nebraska must be feeling pretty good about their chances this weekend. They have one all american on the bench and another all american on the practice squad. GBR Will the OH who took Sun's spot be AA this year? That's not really a relevant metric. Sun hasn't been playing at an AA level this year. The person who took her spot only has to be playing better than she is.

I’m pretty sure Nebraska isn’t ranked 16.. or maybe I’m wrong? Edit: I realized it’s VT ranking. Please ignore me

Everyone knows Sun is not playing up to her capacity and historical peak. But is Batenhorst outplaying her? Look at the stats. Lexi is hitting an abysmal .173, but Batenhorst is hitting 151 on almost 100 fewer attacks. One thing that those stats don't show is latest trend. Did Lexi hit great in the first few matches and now is doing much worse? Look at serving: Lexi 13 aces against 9 service errors. Ally with 3 aces and 5 service errors. The stats don't show blocks but I'm assuming that points scored minus kills yields the blocks? If so - Lexi 22.5 blocks to 5.5 for Ally. Another factor that has to be considered is value added to team effort. Does Lexi bring some glue, energy and some confidence that Ally doesn't? My take on this situation is that Lexi should start with a short leash. Players are streaky. Go with the hot hand. Sometimes substitutions are necessary to find that hot hand. I just hope that Mr. Cook does not start and play Ally because he doesn't want her to hit the transfer portal. And also I don't want him to play Lexi if she is clearly performing worse than Batenhorst. From what I see in the stats, that is not the case at this point.

If Sun can't clearly out-play the Freshman, you play the Freshman. She'll be with the program longer and will benefit from the playing time more.

Like Brooke and Natalie Smith, Harper and Kendall Murray will bring another familial link between Nebraska and Michigan once Harper enrolls. ❤️💙
Besides the Smiths, Murrays, and Stivrins, have there been other across-the-net sibling rivalries at Nebraska?

Not sure if The Shannon sisters played against each other I didn't know Eileen had a sister (or sisters). The only one she would have played against was Kathleen, and the only years she would have would be 1991 & 1992, when their careers overlapped. Kathleen was a freshman in 1991. Nebraska hosted Illinois twice in 1991 - once in non-con (NU, 3-0) and in the NCAA tourney (NU, 3-0). Illinois hosted Nebraska twice in 1992 - once in non-con (IU, 3-1) and in the NCAA tourney (IU, 3-0). Interesting parallels to those matchups. Each team ended the other's season, and all but one match was a sweep. Unfortunately neither team's website shows rosters or stats for any of those matches, so it's hard to say if Kathleen played. Eileen certainly would have.

Reminder--this is Champions Weekend. I believe Coach Cook said the 2000 and 2001 teams are coming back. Also, Jordan Larson will be inducted into Husker Hall of Fame and will be at a game--not sure which one but the crowd will go crazy!
