Maryland's S.O.S is just disgusting right now. They're in the 200s. Obviously playing in the B1G will seriously improve this. But their scheduling does not help them at all in getting an at-large/seed. They could have done much much better in that area. But yes, an at-large is still possible. Even a seed, though I think a seed is pretty unlikely. Interesting…so if they finish in the middle of the pack in the B1G, not lose to anyone they’re not supposed to lose to + have the win over Wisco (and for the sake of the argument, Penn State) would that not get them in? I think .500 in the B1G gets Maryland in, particularly with that Wisconsin win. Actually, it doesn't matter if Maryland loses to Iowa if they keep beating the PSU's/Wisconsin/etc's. You're much better off with more big wins + bad losses rather than less big wins + no bad losses. The committee will forgive bad losses (usually, unless it's like 5 or something and the wins don't over-justify that). |
