now I need to assess the damage Grote and Dreschel's blocking did to my fantasy matchup.

UCLA didn't call any timeout in the forth set they lost.

UCLA up 11-8 but UW goes on a 7-1 run to win the set. SMH. Should've called a TO at 11-10 and heck even 11-11 after UW won that challenge. Sealy got a gift last weekend when the Stanford L got injured, but he didn't capitalize. If he could have gotten out of Seattle with the win, that would have been two tough opponents dispatched on the road. That is likely to be the difference in the conference this year, who can steal a few road wins amongst the top four or five teams.

Bays is solid at digging direct heat. If it comes near her platform, she can pop it up and keep it in play, which is nice. In addition to her passing, she should work a bit more on reading the hitter. She was out of position in the cross court a lot and I think if she read better she'd get a few more touches to benefit the husky transition game.

At least VolleyballMag is getting the full Washington experience. Indeed. Way past my Central-time zone bedtime, but well worth it.

Also, Powell deserves some nice praise. She looked much closer to her 1st team AA form tonight than she has been recently.

UCLA was missing Luper, but they have way too much quality pin depth for that to be any sort of excuse. Washington was actually missing Endsley. Washington pretty much had no LS attack when Bush was front row tonight.

But you’re not wrong about them having so much pin depth they can’t really complain.

Claire Hoffman, what a difference a week makes! I must say I think I’ve been sleeping on her a bit. Seems like a pretty consistent highlight of Washington’s offense.

UW only had 3 hitting errors the first two sets, hitting .379 and .333, but trailed 0-2, due to serving errors and reception errors. I thought Bays turning around her serve receive after Set 2 was huge, plus Hoffman and Drechsel turned it up, and UW's block came alive.

Seems like a pretty consistent highlight of Washington’s offense. when she is healthy, she is easily one of the top OH's in the country. She's not as flashy as a Pressley, but she gets the job done. She's a quality passer and a good server. There are very few OH's I'd swap her for.
