UW: Hoffman & Sanders not 100%, Cook tinkering around with line-ups. Dreschel is not injured but is struggling this season, will she play OH with Bush at OPP? Where does Endsley fit into this? She also struggled against WSU and was benched after set 1. Bays may have taken the starting libero spot with Crenshaw playing DS. Will she be an OH option? If not rotating in the front row she could at least attack on the bic to give a couple points here and there. edit; it appears Dreschel is also injured How do we know that Hoffman and Sanders are not 100%? How do we know why Endsley was benched? How do we know Dreschel is injured...looked fine in the 4th and 5th set vs WSU. Sometimes box scores don't always tell the story on why someone gets "benched" or not. I personally like the line up we saw in the 2nd set (Endsley, Bush, Summers, Hoffman, Grote, Bays, EMP and Crenshaw DS).....but that line up was not in place the rest of the match. It was however a nice look at the future for this program. Is it possible that this team has struggles that no one knows about?? The only thing that is certain is they are not playing at the level they were last year. The reason...not sure anyone knows including the Coaches unfortunately. I do know that they will continue to work their tails off and try to regain last years form. The speculation at times on this forum is a bit out of hand. But as it has been said before....isn't that what forums are for? I also know that without the group that went to the final four last year playing at a higher level...it could be a very long year. The last thing I know is that I will be at the matches this weekend, wearing my colors, and cheering hard for the Dawgs....no matter who is on the court! Lol.. if you listen to the broadcasts they literally address Hoffman and Sanders issues, it’s not speculation. The Dreschel thing was a comment by a poster so idk where that came from

Announcers at the last two matches said Hoffman had an "abdominal" issue and Sanders was out due to health "protocols". The latter likely means that Sanders was quarantined due to contact tracing and, thus, unable to practice for two weeks. She did have six blocks vs the Cougs, which is an improvement, but still didn't look comfortable offensively.
One possible line-up:
OH: Bush, Endsley MB: Grote, Sanders OPP: Drechsel S: Powell L: Bays DS: Crenshaw (for Endsley) DS: Hoffman (for Bush) SS: Calle

Crenshaw at OH? Do Husky fans really want her going pass-to-hit? lol I have been thinking that we should try Drechsel and Hoffman at OH, Bush/Endsley/Crenshaw compete for Opp. We could stabilize our passing with consistent three passers in Drechsel, Hoffman, and Bays. Agreed Bush and Endsley would do better at OPP. I know Drechsel has hit from the left before, but she doesn't seem to be as quick/effective with OOS over there, but maybe better than those two. I would prefer Drechsel not pass, and instead have a DS there. If Crenshew is still in the back row, I would like to see her hit back there as needed. If she isn't libero, she can go back to swinging there. Huskies need to have more sets to the backrow and to the middles at the front middle of the court. Setting to the Pins over and over is too predictable and blockable, which was obvious against WSU.

I will give WA the edge to get this, but it should be another close one, as I don't recall UCLA losing easily at all this season so far.

UCLA is 2-13 in their last 15 against UW. 2018 was their only win in Seattle since 2003. UW has been pretty good in that time period, but still a cursed match-up for the Bruins.

After Utah and then WSU, mainly what I don't want is another 5-set UW loss. Winning in 5 would be OK, but please not another 3-hour rollercoaster that ends up with the Husky car crashed off the tracks.

Taking Sam away from Oppo is a mistake...she is most productive there. When she swings outside, it's not as productive. Bush looked very good there in set 2 vs WSU however. It would be great however to set the OH in system from time to time...they get most of the save me sets...most good passes lead to middle or right side opportunities. I think that is one of the issues...literally too predictable. We need to mix it up and run some more games with our attack. I felt the passing was not the worst part of our game last weekend. We need to sure up the block...its been shaky...especially versus the opponents Outside attackers. Defensively we are better with Bays...at least last weekend. BTW, I dont base any of my conclusions on what the announcers say...99% of vtalkers would be better than they are! They are mostly wrong and ill informed.

Can't keep losing 5th sets, like ASU has been doing. Starts to erode the confidence.

Both Sam and Bush look great in OPP, and hard to take Sam from that spot. Need to mix up the spots being set to free up the pins more. Wish instead of obvious left sets, they brought the hitter in more sometimes or set the middle in front of the setter.

In this fan's opinion, Maddie Endsley needs to start and finish the match tonight without being replaced by Emoni Bush except maybe for short stretches. Emoni will be a good, perhaps great player for us but at this point Endsley has more power and a wider shot selection. We need termination to win tonight and prosper going forward.
