Can anyone give a brief synopsis of Lexi Sun's season? Just not playing well and not getting much playing time? No injuries? I started following NU about 4 years ago and don't always follow extremely closely, but she's one of my favorite players to watch the last few years. she got beat out Lol. Can someone make a thread with that as a the title Oml go for it. Then you can post there..

Hope Russ doesn't run their legs off before the Northwestern match.

She played, she didn’t play well enough, she’s not playing now. I didn’t mean that sarcastically, but it’s literally what happened, people want to make more of it than what is really simple and cut and dry. I am just speculating here but MAYBE when Cook asked her to play in a different position and she was not interested, he may have decided to let her play on the bench. Just MHO. GBR

GBR Nah, that narrative was actually blown way out of proportion. She was t comfortable there and didn’t look great. Now maybe her not liking the idea impacted that….. what’s more likely is they felt no Matter how she was playing in season, In critical points in critical matches she just can’t rise to the challenge. Nebraskas seasons pretty much come down to high stress regional finals and that’s just not a scenario she has thrived in. That’s my opinion of course and I’m not bashing a kid whose a helluva player and a great person, just a reality.

It's Journalism 101 Now if I could only find the stats play-by-play. How is it possible that such a big time match would not have that available anywhere?

Don’t think the transfer portal is doing Rose a favour.. so probably should just recruit players fresh out of highschool. Kidding.
Seriously, Jonni Parker is impressive. Didn’t realise she set for a few plays in this match when Blossom was subbed out. She is so athletic. Definitely one of Penn State’s all time greats.
Speaking of Blossom, please don’t take this in a wrong way, but for a team that has 3 previous setters eventually playing for the National Team - Glass, Rockwell and Hancock, hard to believe that Russ couldn’t recruit a taller, highly regarded setter who is also a threat in the net. Can’t recall her prepvolleyball rankings but maybe it’s just me.

Blossom is a great setter but at 5'9" is on the short side. She was the #28 PrepVolleyball Senior Ace in 2018, and IMO could have been a top 10 recruit if 2" taller. Although, there have been shorter setters who have competed at a high level in the NCAA and internationally. Lindsey Berg, at 5'8", helped TeamUSA win 2 silver medals at the Olympics. Jhenna Gabriel, also 5'8", is holding her own at Texas. Of course Russ would prefer taller players because 'you can't coach height.' I think Salima's departure put the program's recruiting behind by 2+ years.

However, I think Salima's departure put the program's recruiting behind by 2+ years. Spent Friday on the PSU campus and Friday night at Rec Hall for the match. A comment and a couple questions. The atmosphere was great with the white out and the student participation. I didn’t mind the harassment of the Nebraska players or servers because that is how student fans should behave. My only problem (aside from the volleyball team not having a volleyball venue to play in), was the students attended the match FREE of charge, yet there were many, many, many open seats. I expected you would be turning them away at the doors, so that was disappointing. I also found the seemingly unrelenting “Nebraska is unreal” chant amusing…and, when the entire crowd was chanting it during the first PSU time out when they were behind 8-3, I’m not sure it had any affect except to draw laughs from the Nebraska reserves. And in the second and third games the Nebraska fans also joined in. . . .Maybe a better chant next time. Do you ever sell out? against who? I also heard from several people that this may be Rose’s final year? Any truth to that? I first heard it on Thursday in the Hershey/Harrisburg area from family members. And then from a couple others on campus. I ask this because it is clear PSU’s recruiting has taken a dip, or there wouldn’t be the need for so many incoming transfers. I was also disappointed that PSU didn’t fight back as I thought they would after they got behind. I don’t think that has ever happened in my memory. Rose just started making wholesale changes in the line up. This was the most unRuss Rose bench demeanor I have ever seen. Maybe it will be different when they come to Lincoln in 5 weeks. We’ll see how it goes. 🏐

Penn State use to win matches by out-hustling opponents, digging more balls, and having tremendous attacker coverage. But the top teams in the BIG took note, and they have caught up in those areas. For much of the night PS played a talented but inexperienced freshman at OH and , if the announcer was correct, a DS at the other left-side position. Nebraska had more talent on the court.
