I've been on and off with watching this match, but every time I tune back in, it seems the Badgers go on a 10-2 run. LOL!

This match was interesting for the first set and some of the second after that a snoozer. Wisconsin played to win after that.

Congrats Badgers, once you pulled it back together after a rough start, you looked like the team that swept Minnesota which is the team I have expected all year.

I’d wondered if the Barnes Family would do something like this. (I see myself in that photo...)

No Bonnie tonight, though. Some dude on PA instead. The football game stadium announcer, whatever his name is.

The problem with Illinois is, they have an elite coach with only good to very good players. That’s why at the beginning of matches Illinois is able to outscheme whoever they are playing…but as matches wear on the teams with more talent adjust, talent starts to win out. I thought Tamas would begin to draw in elite recruits by now, but that hasn’t really happened. Illinois is located in the hotbed of hs/club vb. . . Illinois biggest problem is they need better players or they are going to be a team like Michigan that is mostly a 5th or 6th place B1G team that makes the tournament most years-although Michigan’s problem is mostly opposite of Illinois. Michigan has some really elite players. . . Can you imagine those two outsides in State College or Madison? Tamas is a great X’s and O’s coach, but to be an elite coach he has to recruit better players. . . .

Just watched replay. Man, I thought no lead was safe with the way IL was serving and blocking. Il shut down Orzol but Badger offense is becoming pretty balanced these days. And as I posted in Badger thread:
Loberg since Maryland:
7 1 18 .333 11 2 30 .300 12 1 32 .344 9 2 24 .292 13 5 32 .250

Loberg had a handful of tremendous kills on out of system sets. I thought her hitting of OOS sets was fantastic tonight.

Give Illinois some credit. I thought they played really well for the first set and a half. Their serving was excellent. And they blocked well. At one point they were up 8-2 in blocks. The badgers adjusted and started setting the middles more. That opened up the offense and woke the block up.. Illinois impressed me. The badgers just have too much talent for them. But they played well.

Demps really impressed me with her blocking. She gets her hands so far over the net. I guess I never noticed that before. I think her blocking is why she’s spending more time at opposite than anybody else.
