| | | #4 Wisconsin | vs | RV Illinois | (12-1, 4-1) | | (11-5, 3-2) |
Saturday, October 9, 2021 7:00 PM Central UW Field House - Madison, Wisconsin
WE MEET AGAIN! In a weird twist of scheduling, Illinois and Wisconsin face off twice in the space of six days. Both teams last played on Wednesday. Wisconsin is coming off of a narrow sweep of Iowa, and Illinois dropped a tight five-setter to Purdue. The seriesIllinois leads the series 49-43-1. The Badgers appear to have a slight home court advantage, as they lead in Madison 22-17-1. Wisconsin has won the last four matches: Last week in Champaign, the back-to-back in Huff in January 2021 (2020-21 season), and the sole meeting of the 2019 season, which was in Madison. Did you know...?The singular of Illini is not, as I thought, Illinus.[/div]

If the Badgers forget how to block and produce as many hitting errors as they did last night, my 3-1 prediction victory prediction will be sadly wrong.

And you are assuming 1 game win.
This is some of the worst blocking I have seen. I guess it's been all Hart the last three years?
(and PS it's never been Rettke. Hilley always is the one touching. Maybe because hitters think they can hit over her?)

She came in to start the 3rd Set last night, and the very first thing they did was allow Iowa to hit through the block and get the first point of the set. It was not a good sign...unless you were a Hawkeye on the other side of the net.
We need to get in a Rainelle Jones-state-of-mind quickly.

Dani Hart’s injury is really hurting the Badgers more than I ever imagined. And I agree about the block lately.
So I’m hoping that Smrek is ready to contribute on Saturday. I just think it’ll change the dynamic if she can help the Badgers - primarily to seal the pins with more effective blocking, and especially now on the right side with the lineup shuffle (Robinson).
Otherwise...whew. I’m still really optimistic about this team.

The last couple stalwarts at RS were Kriskova & Duello who had a couple similarities. Neither were dynamic athletes, both hit a heavy ball and most notably both sat on that right pin and let very little pass down the line!
Both Jardine & Demps stray frequently for unknown reasons. Smrek is right out of central casting for the job at hand, so looking forward to her getting her shot!

Wow! How cool would a Duello-like block be for the Badgers right now?!!

Worry not Illinois fans. I will not be in attendance therefore they will not be afflicted by the curse that my presence brings them.

Worry not, madden55. Illinois may not have the pollsters' respect but they seem to play their away games against higher-ranked teams as if they were "Honey Badgers" (they don't give a...).

Madden, is there a way to transfer your curse to another team? A traveling curse perhaps, that moves from team to team?
