Cal is likely the better team, but OSU has a shot because they have Grace Massey on the back row.

OSU would be favored if they weren't missing 3 of their best hitters. They will defend really well though, and CAL can be error prone, so I would think this would go 4 or 5, but CAL has the advantage.

Cal did better in OOC play than OSU, winning 7 games compared to 2 for the beavers

Honestly surprised that OSU won this one. They had Tkachenko back, as she was absent against Stanford, and she had a great match. OSU's hitters had their best numbers all at the same time in awhile. Great for them. Still confused about what is going on with CAL's outsides, Smoot and Mirkovic, who both played poorly again, while their OPP again did great. CAL has no chance against any teams if an OH can't step it up.

Don’t know why Crosson isn’t in the hot seat over this

Don’t know why Crosson isn’t in the hot seat over this I really wish Cal offered Jen Dorr. The team was obviously trending up under her. It's too bad that Cal offered Crosson who had good seasons at Cal Poly only because of TVW.

Crosson was doing well in his first season when Anderson and Forte were there, and once they left, things have never been the same since

Cal was behind the 8 ball. They didn't get a lot of the continuity bonus from other teams over the Spring because they lost their best player from the Spring and the 2 best players on the team now weren't there in the Spring. So them getting much better was unlikely but they still shouldn't be this bad.
I don't really know if putting Crosson on the hot seat would do much. I just don't see how Cal becomes competitive from here given what they're capable of investing. Aren't they still in massive debt from the stadium earthquake-proofing?

Covid and budgeting have been huge anchors on the program. From where they are now, it will be several years to become competitive with the top teams in the Pac. For the next few years, I think their goal has to be modest, something like 9th or 10th.

Don’t know why Crosson isn’t in the hot seat over this Cal was wiped out by transfers (Forte etc), graduations and covid. Cal is a great university and they need time to recruit. Dorr was a good coach so is Crosson. Cal will start trending upward.
