Does anyone know if Travis stepped down so Scott can take over? I glanced at his bio and seems like a very accomplished coach. Wonder if they brought him in 3 years ago with this intent or if they are considering keeping the staff I have absolutely no inside knowledge of the situation, but the reality is that they haven’t been great lately. While not unprecedented (Virginia, Clemson), it would be a weird move to elevate the assistant in a program that isn’t winning.

Wonder if they brought him in 3 years ago with this intent or if they are considering keeping the staff That’s not really how it works. “They” (admin) didn’t bring Scott in, Travis did. And that would be an incredibly long and strange process to bring him in thinking you will get rid of your head coach in a few years. Scott does have a lot of experience and may wind up being a candidate for the job but seriously doubt the admin had anything to do with that before Travis stepped down. IMO, think in general barring any unusual serious transgressions, when a newer coach leaves without success (less than 4 years), they go for an experienced coach to stabilize things with a proven method. But in cases like this where a coach had like a 20 year record, the admin would be looking for a fresher, young voice with different perspective, possibly keeping the experienced AC to lean on for things the younger coach has not experienced. That is if the AC is content with tat role and the team thinks of the AC "same" as HC. Like when baseball managers or football coaches resign because "it's time".

It would be very strange if Scott got the job. Not impossible, but very strange.

" 'After conducting a national search, it was clear that she was the right person for this position,' said Sceggel." 1 week from announcement to announcement. It's the model of efficiency, but I'm not sure you can call that a national search.

I definitely agree with instant gratification. Terry Pettit has said many times if the SWA had gotten her way, he would have been fired 2 or 3 years into his tenure there..... In today's college world, many of the sports (especially volleyball) are given to "sport administrators" who are in charge of that sport. They are eager to make a splash and make something happen, so it's a quick trigger and a coach is gone.
