Rubio feels she's struggled the last three weeks. Definitely needs to get it together. Last week, he started leaving Maldonado Diaz in and subbing out Hodge instead.
Anyway, here's this week's preview for UCLA and USC. Rubio not happy about super seniors to put it lightly.

Another thing in there to keep an eye on is that Puk Stubbe hadn't practiced as of Wednesday. They think it might be strep, but they were not sure as of midday on Wednesday.
“This is one year you get to go over the scholarship count, too,” Rubio said. “And so not only do they get the super seniors, but they’ve recruited graduate kids to come in and...it’s a completely unfair playing field at this point, from them to us. Now I’ve had the same opportunity, I guess, with Paige (Whipple). She chose not to come back. and financially we couldn’t bring in people to go over our scholarship limit. So, it’s a little bit frustrating on my end because there’s such a huge advantage between them and us.”
The returning super seniors like Whipple, Botkin and May had to chance to return and not count against the scholarship limit but Whipple didn't want to. Nothing unfair about that.
I agree with you. I quoted. I am not endorsing. He has said this a couple of times lately, but the only sport I know of that has removed scholarship limits completely is football and that's not until next season and I believe it just applies to the class size. In this one, he seemed to be talking about the combination of bringing players back and going over, which seemed accurate. You can go over the limit with your own super seniors. But he has since talked about it as if no super seniors count towards the limit, so that has made me wonder if he has it right as far as his own understanding.
As for Whipple, her back was giving her a lot of problems her senior season. She missed several matches. She also had a job lined up. It was probably the best thing for her to move on.
Sorry I didn't reply sooner. I had multiple sports going on last weekend.
