Were there any fans tonight? I'm guessing no? No fans allowed until the next homestand. The UC Davis match will be the first match fans will be allowed into the SSC.

Robyn and staff are doing one heck of a job coaching this Wahine team. You can see the progress the Wahine team is making. But again, this team is still driving Robyn nuts, with their up and down, even in practices.

Maybe, but Wagoner and Akana are doing a solid job at this point. That is not a bad thing. Agreed. But where Leoniak can come in is for Akana in the back row, instead of Gong, on some rotations. That would allow Lang to set Leoniak on the "D" set. That is what I meant by playing more. Not to mention sometimes when Robyn wants a bigger block. Looks like it. Nice to have the depth, but not have it be essential because things are going awry.

But like someone mentioned on the Men's thread. It is only depth when you use it. Robyn is definitely using it. Whether it is Leoniak, Westerberg, Kiraly, or even Byrd, on occasion. We might even see Johnson at some point in time. Robyn is not afraid to go to her bench players, it seems.

Kind of want to see Amber not be subbed out and allow her to play 6 rotation once in a while. She's shown she can dig from the backcourt.

It would be great if the Badgers still had Hart and Civita playing, and depth was to get the most efficient left sides playing or for blowouts.

Good win for Hawaii. Definitely feel bad for Cal Poly and Stivers going down in the first few plays. Never like to see a player get injured. At least it didn't look too bad. Hopefully she will be ready next week. As others have mentioned, the back row for Cal Poly was very good. Picked up a lot of shots and did a nice job of keeping the rallies going. Cal Poly can be dangerous next year with Dvoracek back in the line up and everyone having another year of experience.
Hawaii's most complete performance in as many matches. They did pretty well for the first week of Big West play, but dropped off around the Fullerton match and we finally got to see the team really play a complete match and not get off to a slow start. Lang continues to improve, but as I've mentioned in the UCI match, would like to see her set selection a little better. I feel that will improve over time. A few great sets to the Akana that split the block. There was another instance that I thought she should have gone to the right, because the Cal Poly blocker was on the ground, but she went to the left. Hawaii still got the point, but it would have been an open net for Akana. Still, I like that she is getting more comfortable as the season goes on.
For Hawaii, I think this match was important in getting prepped for UCSB. They run a pretty fast offense and spread the ball around a lot. Cal Poly doesn't do it as much, but Hawaii was able to contain a lot of the Cal Poly hitters, so it is important that Hawaii continues to work on their blocking and defense from one side of the net to the other.

Hawaii’s game can be bipolar at times. When it’s on, it can be amazing. Still feel Right side position is up for grabs.

Would love to see Amber attack from the back row. If she is able to, Robyn will then allow Amber to be a 6 rotation player. Not only does Amber have to show that she play back row defense, but she has to also show that she can attack from the back row, if she wants to be a 6 rotation player.

Which is what I would like to see if she could/would do it. My mind is thinking about how the converted MB to OH (e.g. Houston, Mason, Boogaard, Castillo, Hartong, Willoughby, etc..) Hawaii's had, all could bang away from the back row.

Igiede does really well in her service rotation, Rettke hit some pipe sets for kills in hers in 2019, which was sick, but middles, even those who are good defensively for middles, then get subbed out after that rotation.
