I want to add, though, that I think this was pretty easily the best-played UW match all season long. At least, the best I have seen. The Huskies finally played like the returning Final Four team they are, and Stanford hung with them in Seattle for two sets. I'm not at all sure this means Stanford was playing badly. I think they just caught the Huskies at a bad moment (bad for Stanford, I mean). I think Washington played fantastic volleyball in the OSU match (and lost), so I do think their ceiling is high, but not as high as we all expected. What! I thought OSU played season end level defense and really took it to the huskies but they (Washington) did NOT look good. EMP was god awful in that OSU match and our 1st touch was just as bad. The block let Grunze score with impunity. That was a pretty average, at best, Husky showing.

Francis seems scared to be on the court to me tbh, but would agree on Miner. She'll get there. ya she kinda did this match but on Friday vs WSU she was getting fired up and I liked that Yes, but the definition of leadership is being positive and energetic when things aren't going well. Instead of just staring around the arena and avoiding eye contact when you're down 0-2.

I forgot EMP looked off in that match, but I also think I credited her pressing to OSU's defense. It felt to me that she saw her hitters struggling to finish, and started doing too much / got inside her own head. May be just my interpretation of the match, though.

UW is only as good as Powell. They are probably going to keep up this "interesting" passing all season long, so they need Powell like maybe nobody else. I swear I saw her make a bump set that led to a kill on a pass that was going right to the scorer's table.

Stanford attempts: Baird - 42, Kipp - 20, Francis - 18**.
Middles combined for 18 swings.
Yikes o'clock.
** How does that even happen?

the experimental rule not being in the tourney is going to kill me. Yeah, this 2-but-you-keep-them-if-you-win rule is SO MUCH BETTER than three use-once challenges. Is there any chance the NCAA can decide before the tournament that the experiment is a success?

High level match. Impressive performance by the Huskies. They broke down a strong team. We have many weapons. P.s. Baird is really good at out-of-system kills.

Who would u all say is the leader of the team? It doesn’t look like there is one to me Yeah, I don't think anyone is there yet. Asking the hitters on either side of her to hold her fingers is cute, but Kipp should be stepping into a leadership role by now. When did it happen?

Is there any chance the NCAA can decide before the tournament that the experiment is a success? Only thing I've noticed is in this system, using 1 challenge and losing it is basically the same as having zero challenges. Coaches are super apprehensive to challenge if they lose a challenge early. I think it should be 3 challenges, but keep them, and no additional in a fifth.

Even so, I feel like that’s too much Baird ball especially considering she was really sick. Hoping she gets better ASAP, but yeah not a particularly impressive match for Miner or anybody on Stanford’s side really lol. I thought Kipp was decent and Francis is improving.

They do it before every single point when Kipp is in middle front. Yeah, but I didn't notice it until one time the camera operator decided to focus in and show it. Kipp held out the "hang loose" finger sign, and the other two wrapped their pinkies around Kipp's pinkie and thumb.
