Wasn't able to watch this match, but good to hear that Cal's passing was good. Didn't realize that Mirkovic has been playing injured but it explains why she hasn't been the main offensive weapon. Not really sure I understand why the passing is better with Mirkovic as L though. With Mirkovic as an OH, you have the Libero and just need 1 other OH or DS to help with the passing. With Mirkovic at L, you now need 1 OH AND 1 DS to help with the passing. And regardless of Mirkovic's position, Grote can still play 6 rotations see how much court she was covering...

And regardless of Mirkovic's position, Grote can still play 6 rotations Because it allows her to play 5 and 1/2 rotations vs. 3 rotations at DS. She can't play at OH due to her knee. If you have two good passers, you can hide an OH who isn't. I don't disagree with you, but I was comparing Mirkovic passing as an OH (6 rotations) vs L (5.5 rotations), not L vs DS (just 3 rotations). Since she is injured and not producing offensively, it makes sense that she is playing as the L instead of as an OH or DS

Note, also, as a Libero she's probably playing left-back on defense, rather than middle-back.
