I would say LMU sweep, but then they did that weird thing yesterday vs Portland, keeping Geissberger on the bench for the first set and losing it badly before cruising in the next 3 sets. But I think LMU can easily handle Gonzaga.

But I think LMU can easily handle Gonzaga. I had a thought that LMU *always* struggles in Spokane. I decided to look up their records playing at Gonzaga in recent years to see if I was remembering correctly. 2013 L, 2-3 2014 L, 1-3 2015 W, 3-2 2016 W, 3-0 2017 L, 0-3 2018 L, 0-3 2019 L, 1-3 2020 L, 2-3 AND W, 3-1 LMU was actually an at-large NCAA team in a few of those losses. Then again, Spokane ain't too far from Pullman, we know strange things happen over in that part of Washington. . .

Frankly, I was quite surprised that Santa Clara had an easy sweep up there last week, because I believe that Gonzaga has similarly been a weird E. Washington vortex experience for them. I suspect Gonzaga has had a strong home court advantage for a long time. Looking it up..... Gonzaga is 4-4 at home this year and 0-8 on the road. Meanwhile this year, LMU is 2-2 at home and 8-2 on the road! In 2016, Gonzaga was 6-3 at home, 6-7 on the road. (LMU was 8-6 and 7-5) In 2017, they were 8-4 at home and 4-8 on the road (LMU was 8-5 and 6-8) In 2018, they were 4-5 at home, 5-9 on the road. (LMU was 7-3 and 7-6) In 2019, they were 5-7 at home and 2-9 on the road. (LMU was 6-3 and 4-10...ouch) 2020, they were 3-5 and 4-6...last spring is the only time they didn't seem to hold a home court advantage. (LMU was 6-3 and 1-6...again, ouch!) Still, I think LMU takes it this year.

What is going on with LMU??? Are players still struggling with injury? I genuinely thought they would be a dark horse for the title after their performance in the first weekend, but it's been pretty disappointing since.

I genuinely thought they would be a dark horse for the title after their performance in the first weekend, but it's been pretty disappointing since. All of their starters are playing. Doesn't look like Klemp is taking any swings today, but I think that's pretty normal since Rice and Booth are both in the match, along with Geissberger. I don't have an explanation for how they are playing this poorly against a team that 'lesser' WCC teams have handled. Currently down 0-2 and down 7-8 in the third set.

LMU not dead yet. They took the third set 25-20 and have a lead early in the fourth set...

LMU had all kinds of badness in the fifth set. I didn't see how they managed to do so well in the fourth. They dropped the match with a 10-15 fifth set on an ace. trojansc called it...there's a weird volleyball vortex that visiting teams fall into in eastern Washington
