OSU didn't look like they belonged on the same court as Wisconsin, so I am not very optimistic about this one.
Do the Gophers also block everything on Defense, and drop atomic bombs on Offense?

One other thought about Shaff and a 5-2: assuming it is an idea to 'fix' the problem of setting the middles, it is just those three rotations when Shaffmaster would be in the front when you most need effective middles. Because those are the three rotations when the setter only has a middle and a left to set (along with Samedy from the back). So even the 5-2 may not be as much of a "solution" as you might be hoping. FWIW I don't think we are talking about a 5-2. I think we are talking about subbing out Shaffmaster when she is in the back row for McMenimen. Samedy would stay in which is a 5-1. 5-2 is where there are setters who play opposite each other and the setter is always in the back row. In this case, hopefully, at least one of the two setters can hit so you don't use up all of your subs. That won't happen because the opp, Samedy, would only play 3 rotations  . Shaffmaster is a good blocker and I wouldn't go the 5-2 route with her.
A 5-1, where Shaffmaster and McMenimen share the setter roll, would make more sense but keep Shaffmaster in as server. IMO, only do this to rest Shaff or when she is struggling. Save your subs. |

What about when she struggles to set the middle? Or do you think that has nothing to do with why we for some reason don't set middles anymore, when every other good team in the country does? |

I get your point that they couldn’t match Wisconsin’s aggressive hitting but saying that they didn’t belong on the same court is a really big stretch, Wisconsin was definitely the better team but Ohio State challenged them well and minor details could’ve swayed those close sets the other way and I think Jenn could’ve done a better job using her TOs |
