Graduating 9 seniors & grad transfers will reinvent PSU. For the better? Players that are being recruited to PSU are being recruited to the idea of what the program was not what it is currently. |

Can we talk about PSU in need of a reinvention? Graduating 9 seniors & grad transfers will reinvent PSU. Perker, Hord, Hampton, and Blossom are listed as seniors, so I think they can stay for one more year if they want. I'm not sure who is the most valuable, but if any two or more of them leave, those are B1G shoes that need to be filled. |

Nunge kill 6-6 Holland kill 7-6 IL rotation error 8-6 Yellow card to Tamas; seems fickle by refs I want to say something about the down official. I really hate it when a match becomes more about the officiating and linesmen than the players. Before volleyball instituted replay checks, Penn State had the onerous reputation of referees and linesman constantly favoring PSU. A point here and there that is wrongly given to one team can obviously be crucial in close matches and ultimately in conference standings. I do not know where the down official ccmes from (is he from the East coast where I believe most of the officials were located in early years of B1G PSU volleyball)? At any rate in that first set the down official made 2 very questionable calls (or was it 3) in favor of PSU, and Tamas was not going to allow it to continue. I thought it was unusual that Rose and Tamas did not green card any calls during the match. (Gentleman's agreement? I think to be completely fair and objective.......checking an official's challenged call at the scorers table should not be done by the down official who may have just made the challenged call. The check should be done by a third B1G official who judges the call. Does anyone know if the green-carded calls are checked in the B1G office post game? Tamas is not going to allow his team to be unfairly officiated...as any good coach would not! |

Great match Illini! Total team effort...you made my week after being let down by the UI football team in their defeat by Rutgers.
