If IU can establish their middles in this match, I like their chances to get a tough road victory in Iowa City.
There was absolutely no balance in their match against Northwestern. Credit the Wildcats for their big swings on the outside to keep the Hoosiers OOS but it lead to a series of unfortunate events in the 3rd and 4th set as Northwestern had 9 blocks on the night clamping down on Edwards and Saris. Northwestern was able to at least use their middles to create 1up situations and if you can give Thomas-Ailara a solo block, she is going to terminate.

Got it, I thought you meant in general. I agree. Watching IU's ebb and flow has been intriguing this year. Pushing Georgia Tech to 4, Mississippi State to 5, Penn State to 4 (should have won in 4). Then getting absolutely demolished by Northwestern, being swept by Chicago State (starting to see a trend of Illinois-based problems)... Love Aird. Love the energy he brings to the program. Love that he is willing to push his youth into the gauntlet to see how they respond. Now just hope they stick through it and develop to compete on a more consistent basis. This match is a needed win to get the momentum going back in the right direction. I expect a five setter in Hawkeye country. |
