In that picture she's looking like someone just told her that practice is unexpectedly going to be extended two extra hours.

11 all in the second set was arguably Dreschel's hardest hit ball of her career. Laser down the line. Reminded me of this swing Collymore had long ago down the line, the amount of velocity on the ball is just crazy.

You can’t get kills if you don’t get set. Regardless, she needs to set the middle more for Stanford to be successful. Sure, but my point is that Vicini has like 2 shots and doesn’t really get kills Vicini is not an all-american. I get that. But you still need to include your middles, spread the ball around. It keeps everyone involved. It keeps the opposing block honest. It opens up your pins. Tonight Vicini was 7 kills, no errors, .700. Even if her numbers are much lower, you should still set the middle some. imo Tonight, I don't think Campbell or Vicini had a hitting error from the middle. Both of Campbell's HE's were on slides.

If Francis finds her swing and hits over .300, Stanford wins a close match. If Francis hits under .300, Stanford loses. If Francis hits the way she has been lately, the Card gets swept in ugly fashion. Well, I'll stand by what I said. Francis ended up hitting 0.034, and we lost. I still feel if she would have hit .300, we would have won.

Possibly, but I’m more worried about which Baird we are going to see We saw a good Baird. Needed Francis too for a W. Baird was great (except for her service errors).

Why does no one ever post scores in Stanford threads? That seems to have become the norm in a lot of threads....not just Stanford threads. Back in the day (for you young whipper-snappers) you could follow a match pretty easily by refreshing a match thread. I guess now there are so many TV broadcasts or streams there's not longer the same need for that. Match threads have become "additions" to a broadcast, rather than a source of play-by-play. Plus, some of the old-timers who used to diligently post a point-by-point update have disappeared. (Gimoy at WSU, for example.)

But I just started clicking on the live stats link on the OP to find the score.

What's the point of trying to post a running play-by-play unless the live stats are down? Despite their issues, the newer versions are still a lot better than the old Gameslacker was.

It would be nice to get more from some hitters, but I don't really think that's the problem. In this match Stanford's offensive statistics were running a bit better than Washington's, while they were clearly being outplayed. Poor defense and ball handling, service errors (at some point you do need to start worrying about them, especially when your serves aren't particularly effective), and general lack of cohesion are more the problems.

I noted some belly-aching from a couple posters about "why'd KCook put Endesley in?"
Seems to me it was a great move to hold off Stanford at a key point with some very strong serving.
And the back-row digs weren't too shabby either....

The last time UW beat Stanford twice in one regular season was 2005.
My memory is fuzzy, but seems like UW may have gone on to have a pretty good tournament run that year.

True...but the 2005 Stanford team was 26-6 overall and 14-4 in conference. This Stanford team is currently 13-10 overall and 8-7 in conference (and could possibly end up 10-10 in conference based on their final 5 opponents). So I wouldn't bet "the farm" on the predictive value of that random coincidence.
