Bummer for fans that every game is closed to the public though! This is the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen. Crimson Court and Club V aren't large spaces so I'd guess that's their reason. BYU's post says, "All home matches are free and open to the public." so at least that one will be an option for those in the SLC area.

Still no Spring Schedule published for the Utes 🤔 Bummer for fans that every game is closed to the public though! Yep, not impressed with the spring matches not being able to be viewed. The big picture view of this Ute program is that Beth just seems to be fine with a decent program and not an elite level one. She had Drews and Koerber and Paige and a national relevance and she lost 2 of the 3 and it may never be the same for her as a coach. I wasn't disappointed in the coaching change to UNLV but I also think this roster simply isn't that good. Setting with Smith was like setting with a D2 setter. Zero athletic ability and a huge liability on the front row. Our MB's are just average and I don't see a lot of upside from where they are at now. Does that Burgess girl even lift weights? Jardine wasn't good enough for Wisc and I now it is easy to see why. However, the passing is a bright spot as is the serving. Beth puts together a competitive team but it will be a struggle to make the NCAA tourney again this year. I guess the bottom line is the roster needs a big redo.

Sad as a Dayton fan, but happy for her! She is a great one!! I am just not sold on her as a top level coach, yet. Either the recruiting thumb was put on her by Horsmon and we will see an immediate upswing in Utah's talent evaluation, or she is surviving as a coach based on her playing days ability. She would be natural for passer recruiting and teaching. But Utah has had issues getting top OH's and setters. Even the MB's are a level below what they should be. Who would ever recuit Smith as a starting Pac12 setter? I don't see EDR's history at Dayton being a plus for Utah. It has always appeared that Dayton couldn't evaluate talent correctly so they would just bring in 5 setters to see if they could find one that could play at a high level. That is just an example but the same with their OH's. They did tend to get MB's with upside but had to take underdeveloped ones who had the physical ability but not the skills quite yet. It was a program that struggled to peak at the right time for the NCAA's except for 1 year in the last 8. Jury is out on Utah and this season will show us what they have done to address their weaknesses.

I am hoping that Jardine takes a step forward this season and finds the block less on her swings. As for the "not good enough for Wisconsin" comment, um, yeah, Badger fan since 1999, and they ran a 6-2 last year for only the second time in that period. The left sides did not get a ton of the sets on good ball control, and healthy Orzol and Franklin gave them a higher ceiling on OOS left side offense than I had seen from the Badgers, so there is that. I get it was a frustrating season for Utah fans, but they really pushed USD on the road in a match where Robinson got hurt, so there was clear upside, just too much variance in play.

Dayton, a mid major, pushed both Washington and Purdue to 5 in the tournament. Peterson was an all American and they’re always strong in the middle, if anything they lacked a setter.

Unlike ASU and a couple of other PAC teams, Utah has a big roster. Only question is: are there obvious strong starters, who will keep their spots, or will it be a lot of subbing in/out at some points, like seemed to happen last year.
OH: Lauren Jardine-JR, Ella Briggs-RS/FR, Kamryn Gibadlo-FR, Skylar George-FR OPP: Ashley West-SO, Olga Musial-FR S: Emily Smith-SR, Grace Hammond-JR, Viktoria Wahlgren-SO MB: Allie Olsen-SR, Amelia Van Der Werff-SR (also at OPP), KJ Burgess-SO, Emrie Satuala-FR L/DS: Vanessa Ramirez-SR, Kamry Bailey-JR (also option at OH), Iliana Linahan-SO, Kaieva Johnson-FR
OH/OPP spots have the most question marks, in terms of who will start.

The freshman OH from Arizona is good. Played against her last year and she was a force. I believe she was All-Tournament 18-Open as a part of the AZ Rev team that finished 3rd. (At least I think I saw her in the picture).

Seems like very few freshmen come into the college game and have a strong season. Not alot of Colyer's out there, but the OH2 is definitely going to a freshman this coming season.

Seems like a freshman who is ready to start in the lineup this season.

A grad OH transfer added. Definitely ideal to add more experienced depth to the OH pin.
