My take is he doesn't want a bunch of grad transfers. Sounds like he wants to get some younger players who agree with his culture and future goals.

Does anyone know what kind of recruits we have coming in next year? There was no press release on signing day so there might not be any? This website shows Elsa Snipes, but I looked at her IG and it says "@sundevilbeachvb ‘27". |

This might be true, but I just don't know a ton of P5 quality kids in the portal that have more than 1 or 2 years left. Kiara Robey, MB from Oregon, has two years left and Pac 12 experience, hit .436 last year with 107 blocks. Feel like she'd be a nice pick up if she wants to stay in the Pac. Jade Demps has been an underutilized OH/Opp at Wisconsin that would have two years (with a Covid year) left as well. ASU has the advantage of having scholarship dollars, where many schools don't, so if they can pull a few two year kids (like Demps and Robey), along with some good one years, then you can either go get some 2024s (many still available) or a few more good transfers from the portal next year. If you can string a couple solid, maybe tourney qualifying, years together. It might be enough to get you a bump in recruiting for 2025s and beyond. Look at kids headed to TCU (#31 2021 recruit transferring from Mizzou and rumors that Parra from Texas might be headed too) and Auburn (top OH from OU this year, a starting MB from UK, and more). TCU has had their new coach for one year and they made the tourney and pulled an updset. Auburn's coach is on their third year (after two very covid plagued years--they didn't even play in spring 2020) and they made the tourney too and upset seeded (although without their starting setter) Creighton. |

I don’t know much about the current recruits, but he got Lazaro to flip her commitment to Utah and join him in L.A., so there is some precedent on that front…OTOH, USC to ASU a different animal. |

I know it’s different because she wasn’t following a coach; but there was once a USC to ASU transfer in Allyse Ford.
Anyway I get that it’s unlikely but was just wondering because it’s not completely unheard of, especially for perhaps a player who just doesn’t fit into the starting lineup but is good and should be starting somewhere, etc.

Shout out to the media person for finding pictures with 4 girls still on the roster...
For real though, interested to see how fast Van Niel can get his staff assembled and the roster filled out. Looks like classes start a week from tomorrow. Wonder what the chances are of getting any student-athlete in to Tempe in the next week? Is there that level of urgency?
