It took me a while to spot that Hoffman is not playing. (As I mentioned, I'm mostly just checking in on this match from time to time.) I suppose that could mean just that Cook is trying to use California as "live fire" evaluation of the other hitters, but I hope it doesn't indicate that Claire is nursing an injury.

I’m not sure either. It will be interesting who Cook chooses as OH2 next week

I imagine it’s easier to do that against Cal

Would like a redo on those first two conf matches when UW was figuring out a lineup - being up 2-1 on Utah and then losing the 5th 16-14....and that remarkable 46-44 4th set in Pullman only to lose in 5.

And she was hitting over the setter, in the first set, anyway. Still, a very impressive performance by Shannon. Happy for her.

Announcer said she's studying Architecture. That's not a typical "jock" major (so to speak).

"We certainly approached the match with a variety of goals but probably the most important one was we didn't feel like we had represented ourselves the first time we played (Cal)," said Head Coach Keegan Cook. "That was one of our discussion points. Making sure that we were making the most of the opportunity. We expected there to be adversity and I liked the way our athletes responded at the end of that match."

"Shannon is tremendously disciplined and unconditionally committed to the team and has always been willing to do whatever we ask her to do," said Cook. "She's worked for it and is in the best shape of her career and she's been ready for a couple weeks to have that match today."

I have a soft spot for Crenshaw after everything she has been willing to do for this team, so I’m happy for her. I’m a little sad that Cal has fallen to the point where Cook feels like he can experiment with the lineup like it’s a preseason game against a cupcake.
