Zazu 's work shouldn't go to waste! San Diego is up 16-12 in the first set. They have 2 kills, 3 errors so far, but blocking very well.

San Diego's blocking is light years better than Pepperdine's. It looks like the Pepp hitters aren't practicing against tough blocking like this. They are hitting and roll shotting right into the USD block.
USD now has 8 blocks and Pepp has 1.
It's 16-9 USD lead in the second set.

This is a match where I was looking for Pepperdine to make a statement seeing why they deserve to be in the tournament.
I'm not seeing it. If they have any hope, they're very very glad that Kansas State ended up beating Iowa State in their re-match today after the KSU loss yesterday.

USD used to have middles who were really effective slide hitters. For the past couple of years they haven't had that.
But Blackwell and Stoner are really good in front of the setter, and Tercariol is, for the most part, putting those sets right on the money for them.

Pepperdine looked a lot sharper in the third set, hitting .344 compared to .000 in the first set and .147 in the second. They took the third set 25-21 as USD faltered down the stretch.
USD leads the match 2-1
Ahrens has a match high 16 kills at .294. Chillingworth has 9 kills, setter Zelaya has 5. Pepp's MB's and Opp are on the struggle bus today.
