Getting the raw feed is interesting; I assume that audio is coaches talking?

Pretty respectable showing by the Bears in the first set (losing 25-19). I was feeling good when it was 7-3 Bears. Despite the obvious difference in physicality, Brown stayed poised and played fundamentally sound defense.

Are they using the optional rule (2 challenges but you keep them if you win) or the default rule (3 challenges, lost upon use)? I can't remember, but I thought that was experimental for conference play only? And all schools in a conference had to agree? But I could be confusing this with something else.

You’re allowed to have non conference matches during conference? I’m confused You get 28 competition dates. USC had used 27 and had one left. They needed an extra win to get to .500. The Ivy League doesn’t play this week anyway.

The rule was optional for conferences to adopt. However, I don't know about how that works for non-conference play. Is it always the default rule, or can the teams agree to use the optional rule? In the tournament it will be the default rule (3 challenges lost upon use, but one more added in the 5th set).

So, USC actually still technically has one extra competition date left if they wanted to use it. (1) exhibition with LMU (5) nonconference (originally) (1) new nonconference (Brown) (20) conference (27) total competition dates 2 matches at Hawaii (don't count)

Kinda annoying watching this match knowing brown will be in the tournament but USC might not be.

Why doesn’t Hawaii count?

Why doesn’t Hawaii count? It's a rule. Travel to Hawaii or Alaska is "free" in terms of competition dates. (This does not apply to Hawaii themselves.)

Seems like they just switched the feed audio from the crowd mic to the PA system channel.

Despite that the stream feed is claiming this is set #1, it's actually set #3. USC is up 2-0 in sets, but Brown is leading in set #3 14-9.
