I mean is this BYU team really even a top 10 team? They aren’t passing the eye test for me! Well if they are, I can think of a bunch of Big Ten teams that are going to be salivating to be in their bracket when the reveal comes out Sunday. BYU definitely exposed in this match. They should get through the first two rounds including a rematch with Utah but once they leave Smith Fieldhouse we’ll see if they are truly ready to contend.

The top of the big ten is the weakest it’s been in YEARS. Maybe a decade. The conference as a whole is still very good yes but the overall team talent is down and that’s one of the reason for the huge parity in it this season. Although this is partly due to the Danielle Hart injury. With her and Civita Wisconsin is the best team in the ncaa IMO. Not saving byu would go out and crush any team in the B1G but they are still a very good team and could compete with any of them.

Very disjointed match...massive runs put on by both teams and sloppy volleyball at different points in the game by both teams. The difference maker was BYU's production out of the middle. Eschenberg (.364%, 5 kills) + Gneiting (.471%, 9 kills) combined for 14 kills VS. Blackwell (-.333%, 2 kills), Goddard (.500%, 2 kills) and Stoner (-.500%, 0 kills) who only combined for 2 kills. USD senior Lauren Turner hit .375% with 7 kills and 6 blocks in USD's 2019 victory over BYU...she was honoured tonight but is out with injury or illness (has been for the whole season), she was definitely missed tonight in the middle.
I'm impressed with Kylie Pries who is hopefully back full strength now... 13 kills on the night hitting .257%. Koerber was great as usual, 13 kills hitting .345%.
On impact sub players: Madill outdid Bower offensively tonight (although Bower ran a more balanced offence): Madill with 5 kills hitting 1000 and Bower with 4 hitting .429%. I thought Madill, although predictable at times, did a great job off the bench as she has in the past. On BYU's side, I'm impressed with Callahan who also came off the bench and did a great job. She definitely outperformed Ballard-Nixon who struggled on the outside. -.300% with 2 kills for Ballard-Nixon and .385% with 8 kills for Callahan. She'll be great for BYU in the future.
On BYU: I gotta agree with a lot of other people in this chat...BYU is not looking like a final 4 team right now based on what we're seeing. They really struggle out of system against tough serving and blocking teams. If they can get the first touch down, they'll be lethal.
