Definitely not a fan boy of them. I think their 18s are really good. But you are right on this site everyone talks about their club in every age group. Good club, not the best. I was joking, know you aren't but there is so much "fake news" that subconsciously people start believing the hype. Say it enough and it somehow becomes fact. Agree, Surf is a great club, but I constantly see their 18s being talked about. They are a great team, but a bit overrated.

From my understanding MVVC and Bay 2 Bay had no issues with the NCVA or USAV volleyball. So was just surprised to see them on the list already fully committed. In my eyes it wasn't a surprise at all, MVVC and B2B are two of the top clubs in the nation, they are just following the comp. Well MVVC website says they're going to usav.

They might be but they are actually on the confirmed Aau list which means they already paid the entry fee .

But I would agree in saying their 18s team this year is good but its nowhere near as good as some people say and this is a weak 18s year imo.

Interesting take... I did not know that winning a medal at nationals classified you as a top club in the nation? I would assume that top clubs means consistently performing at the top percentage in the country as a club overall in which case Bay to Bay and MVVC do. If you are saying you have to win 6 or 7 medals a year to be considered a top club in the country then that number is VERY small... Limited to really MB Surf and Balboa Bay. So many surf fanboys on this site, someone should start a thread to somehow compare UH mens volleyball against MB surf and see if VT mens forum explodes. BB is the only club that has come close to consistently taking 4 or more medals a year in all divisions of nationals. B2B should be in the "top clubs" conversation as much as surf MB Surf has a top team in most divisions so when you are on a club volleyball forum they will always be mentioned and compared to other teams. 3/4 teams they sent to Third Coast medaled with 15s winning gold. The only other club that put up similar numbers is Balboa Bay so I agree with coach director. Use facts wilbur.

Exactly!
My point was this forum often overrates MB surf. BB produces on another level. Surf is damn good, so are some other clubs like B2B and TR and others.
The original conversation was about nationals medals. I thought it was funny someone that isn't a huge surf fan lumped surf with BB as the same level.
"Facts" I would love to see are medals per club over the last 5 or 10 years. Figure that out and post it, and if surf is anywhere near BB and ahead of all others, then you are right and I am wrong.

I am glad you only care about the best teams rather than the strength of the club... You do realize that some kids choose. to accept 2s/USA level positions to get better in a club culture, right? Hence why the best clubs does not mean best team. That is just the best team. Why do people consider Balboa Bay the best club? Because you know their 2s are always really strong too. It is not just about their 1s. What they do at the 2s. level speaks volume as well. Exactly! My point was this forum often overrates MB surf. BB produces on another level. It's Balboa and then everybody else, by a mile... I just thought it was funny he scolded you about using "facts" right after listing the top 2 clubs at Third Coast while completely ignoring the club that had the best overall performance across all 4 Open divisions there.

BB, MBS & TR each won 3 medals in Milwaukee.

BB has the most medals in Open and Club division over last 10 years and it is not close in open. (Double the second place club) 949 is second and doesn’t seem to get much mention on here.

Agree, Surf is a great club, but I constantly see their 18s being talked about. They are a great team, but a bit overrated. I don't think MB Surf is overrated. They have legitimately 5 guys who should be real impact collegiate level players- both outsides, RS, setter, and 1 middle. On their 17's #15 can freaking fly, their lefty (i forget #3/#13?) is a actually a little underrated, and #11 can really run an offense. They're one of the best programs in the area.
