I hope UW doesn't underestimate Hawaii. They are scrappy and battle hard. They have a pair of terminal middles and will give us some real trouble.

Hmmm biggest concern is the play of Bays and her abysmal lack of digs when the OH attacks zone 5. Huskies won’t go very far if OH’s can beat the cross court with impunity.

Agree that Bays should have come up with more digs on cross-court swings. I was also disappointed with serve receive in the first set, particularly Hoffman. Defense and serve receive will need to be better tomorrow or Hawaii will take advantage. And I hate to beat a dead horse, but I still don't understand the decision to start Bush. Simply too many hits into the teeth of the Brown block. I guarantee Hawaii's block will be better, and if we survive Hawaii, Texas will show a block we haven't seen all season.

Just got back home. This was the first volleyball I have watched in person since 2019.
I have confirmed my initial scouting report from watching Brown versus USC -- those players *own* the sideline dance competition. They had choreography. They had singing. They tied all their warmup jerseys into a rope and did doubles jump-roping with it.
The competition on the court was all the other way of course.
I was not surprised to see Endsley, but I was surprised to see her in for Drechsel at opposite.
=====
One other note: I saw some little girl making a sign that said "Go Huskies" and she had written in "Sam" "Lauren" "Lauren B." and was working on the next name. My thought was, "We have two Laurens on this team?"
It seriously never occurred to me that Sanders and Bays have the same first name.

As a Wisconsin fan, I can say that I am pro having Laurens on the squad!

I hope UW doesn't underestimate Hawaii. They are scrappy and battle hard. They have a pair of terminal middles and will give us some real trouble. The problem with Hawaii this season is that they start 2 freshman Kate and Tayli. The Wahine all season have been a Jeckle and Hyde team. When they play well they can be scary good. But……. When they play poorly….., we’ll you get the idea. Wahine are also extremely lacking in an outside opposite which they haven’t been able to fill. Losing Hanna was a big loss that is still void. I just hope for a good competitive match that will hopefully go 5 and not a sweep 🧹 Go Bows 🤙🌈

Great photo of Lauren Sanders hitting a radical cut shot! images.seattletimes.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/12032021_UW-Volleyball-Gallery_205454.jpg Full set: www.seattletimes.com/sports/photos-brown-at-uw-1st-round-ncaa-volleyball-tournament/Story: www.seattletimes.com/sports/uw-huskies/washington-volleyball-sweeps-brown-reaches-second-round-of-ncaa-tournament-for-20th-straight-season/“There are a lot of memories and a lot of standards when you have a program like this,” Cook said. “Sometimes the second round seems like the starting point, but you can’t take any match for granted, or any opponent for granted. We got our sights set on getting to Columbus (for the Final Four), but certainly proud to keep any streak going that we’ve had for 20 years.” “We put a really high emphasis on defensive intensity, and we know when we hit that standard, we can play really, really good volleyball, and I don’t think we hit that tonight,” said outside hitter Claire Hoffman. “We are really excited to have another chance to play at home and try to beat that standard.” “We are looking forward to another classic Hawaii-Washington showdown here (Saturday),” Cook said.
