At least Hawaii was able to make it passed the first round. San Diego and Northern Colorado did not make it passed the first round, I thought there was going to be a curse for the teams who started the 2019 tournament in Hawaii. Utah Valley and Marquette also didn't make it past the first round. Pretty much all of our tourney opponents are out. |

Same thing when Duke came to WA. Highly touted, all-American this, coach-of-the-year that, the ACC is so powerful, and now the SEC... The coach actually said that Hawai'i wasn't as big and as athletic as the SEC. That may be, but we outlasted them. Go Bows!!! The announcers were saying Hawaii is a ball control team when we were out-blocking and pummeling them in the 2nd and 3rd. |

I don't care what anyone says - THIS WAS NOT AN UPSET! Lol the way the nation was hyping up MSU and rightfully so, it felt like Hawai'i was the underdogs but our girls have so much heart and talent especially for the team being majority underclassmen. An awesome win and start to the tournament! Huge shoutout to MSU!! |

The Wahine Freshmen need to hit the weight room in the off season, for different reason. Leoniak needs to add muscle get stronger, whereas Demirtas needs to lose her baby fat, increase mobility. Not to mention, not only Leoniak, but the other 2 European players, excluding Demirtas have to get stronger, so they can become a force at the net.

I said this before the match either on this thread or the Hawaii thread that I thought that both teams were pretty even except that I thought we had the advantage in the middles and also I thought our defense was better. Pretty much all of our tourney opponents are out. unfortunately, marquette saw 2 of their key starters go down with acl injuries in the last part of the season. perhaps they could have made some noise. (altho, dayton -- who beat them -- looked good!). utah valley took utah to 4 sets. so they at least showed some fight in them ... san diego seemed like an engima to me. they appeared to be the clear #2 team in the wcc this year. but then seemed to stumble in the last month ... surprising b/c they've got some talent and experience. but from the vt talk, it sounds like their missing piece was at the setter position this year. |
