Problem I see is no outside opposite terminator like we had with Nikki. No steady Eddie like we had with Kalei Greely, and No DS libero like we had with Akiu. We need more girls like Hartong, Cubi, and to find a Willougby 2.0 somewhere out there. Our tall girls like Leo needs more hustle and muscle. Yes! The make-up of this team was lacking. The last time there was a team similar to this team, I feel, was the one with Kamanao. But she had a bunch of people she played with, primarily Arnott, and had very good ball control! That's why Kamanao could run a spectacularly fast offense at will - although they were stoped by ultimately by Wisconsin. Robyn has a very talented setter with Lang - and that's one reason I was surprised with how this offense was run for the personnel she had. Kamana'o could do no wrong, she just had the instincts, knew where to set the ball, knew what the defense was running on the other side. Kamana'o and Ah-Mow are the two best setters I've seen come out of UH. So fluid in system and transition and they made the other players around them better. Yes she could play offense, but where a lot of teams would go wrong with her, was thinking they could go over her while she was blocking or hitting to her when she was playing right back. Those two are special talents that come once every so often. Lang is about a third or a fourth of the way there. Obviously she's got good hands, she just needs more time and reps at the collegiate level to know what to expect and I think this Washington game was a good experience for her to know what to expect when it comes to big name teams like Washington. As a setter myself, you can only want to improve and watch tape and see what you cold have done and learn. Practice makes perfect. |

Wahine just got run over and manhandled by a Mack truck. I’m convinced that Cardi B foretold this match when she wrote the lyrics, “Park that big Mack truck right in this lil garage!” That was a force feeding by WA. |

Well… that one hurt. None of the opposites logged a single kill in the match 😬 Tough loss but I can’t wait to see what the Bows can do next year! I hate waiting to next year cause it's always followed by a next year, next year, next year, next year... Last time that was said was last year. But it's okay.... Hawaii has the Men's season... so take that UDUB.... hahaha |

If you were to ask Robyn, she would say this is a good lost if there ever was one. The young Wahine players will learn from this, and it will make them that much better next year, and years going forward. No. This was a pretty bad lost! But the Mississippi St win was a good win! Who would have ever thought they could beat a volleyball team from Mississippi? |

Washington has been playing well for a while but it’s impossible to tell from this match how ready they are for Texas. Hawaii was just out of it the whole match.

Disappointing effort by the Wahine.. Amber was the only one to show up tonight… I just don’t see how we improve next year unless players make HUGE progress in their games.. I really do hate to be negative but we are just not bringing in the recruits needed to compete at this level.. we may get by with winning the Big west but that’s it..

How about them Dawgs! They were awesome and played that brand of Husky volleyball which values high level execution and low error play. Just wow! Texas vs Washington will be a treat and I’ll definitely be pulling for them Dawgs! I’m proud of this Hawaii team. There’s so many nitpicky things that can be said but how gutsy of them to step on the floor every night and try their best. After a canceled season, losing an important coach and more 2/3 of their firepower they put themselves in the position to even stare at a team like Washington across the net. How about that BVS?! She is special and will be missed. I most enjoyed watching her interact with her younger teammates. Sky worked hard and improved so much turning her tenure with Hawaii. And Gong tried her best. Go Bows! Go Dawgs! Yes, this team certainly exceeded my expectations, especially with how they started the season, and even after that last conference match. As with many people, we just hoped it was a bit more competitive. But good job UH on your season as well as Washington with their win! |
