To the ticket veterans: If I bought single session tickets on Thursday morning and hopped in a car to head to Madison, how crappy will those tickets be? I thought tix were for both sessions, without an option for one match or the other? First year as a season ticket holder, and our tix were a few rows up in H. I liked where we were sitting but probably would have preferred to be in the same spot on the Badgers side. Will be in E this weekend, 2nd row. I suspect we will not be able to see over the players standing up where we are, depending on what the seat numbers are. That said, there’s not really a horrible seat in the house. I’ve sat all over the Field House over the years, even for Badger basketball eons ago. Each spot has its pluses and minuses.

Single session tickets (both Thursday matches, not Saturday) go on sale Thursday morning.

Couple of questions from a UCLA fan coming to Madison this weekend:
Are there any seats that have backs, or are they all benches?
Is public Wi-Fi available in the Field House? Want to be able to watch some of the other matches on my phone.

There’s WiFi. It’s often not the greatest, if only because there’s 7000 people trying to get into it. Sometimes I use it and sometimes I use data.

Ian's at the top of State St and about 1.5 miles from th fieldhouse has some creative pizza.
You are in luck with the weather. It will be 35. Current temp is 10. That's fahrenheit.

Every Penn State match I’ve watched this season say to myself Russ just don’t wear it. IMO it looks worse to be chin-diapering it than to just not wear it at all. Speaking of diapering, I find it amusing when the young kids do fine with a mask and the adults wear it as far as their seat, before taking it off, and then making a show of eating popcorn for three hours.

During the early match on Friday, I was sitting in my regular season seat - force of habit, I guess - near some rather excited Texas Tech fans; they were, shall we say, less that 100% compliant. One of the usher/security people came by and admonished them, but the effect didn't last long. So at the 'break' after the second set, I moved to my playoff-assigned seat. I don't know whether the ushers came by for them a second time or not. We should expect the same from Baylor. UCLA and MN we should be good. McGwire couldn't be bothered with the mask in pre-conference. oh dear lord. God forbid a coach that’s standing on the side line by all his unmasked players on the court doesn’t wear his mask. Do you know how many coaches don’t wear them during the game? Why single out Ryan?

Also, welcome to Madison, gobruins ! Let us know if you need restaurant recommendations or anything. One thing I always want to know in a new city is "Where is the best pizza in town?" (This will be an odd 'recommendation' because I've never been there, but it shows up on lists for 'best pizza in town', etc) The area around the corner of Regent St and Park St, maybe a half-mile from the Field House, used to be known as the "Greenbush" neighborhood and was "the Italian" part of town. And there is one restaurant that still traces it's origin to those days, the Greenbush Bar. As I said, I've never actually been; maybe others can chime in. Also, their web site implies (?) that they are still operating as 'pick-up only'. FWIW

Also, welcome to Madison, gobruins! Let us know if you need restaurant recommendations or anything. I was there recently for the de facto Big Ten championship game between the Badgers and the Huskers. Settled on the first restaurant we saw that was open (it was Friday after Thanksgiving) and was surprised to find that a burger with ‘Bad Breath’ in its name actually tasted really good. Lol Even more surprised to find mulligatawny soup (that tasted amazing!) on the menu of a tavern. As expected, good local beers all around. As for the Field House, I didn’t expect it to be that…quaint. Electric crowd though and very entertaining match. Almost made up for how expensive the tickets were. Almost. We were seated a few rows behind the Huskers and they should have indicated it as partially obstructed view because of how close the bench players were standing to the actual bench. Lol! We could barely see Nebraska’s backcourt. Lots of options on where to get drinks after the game. There were plenty of people when we went but I imagine it’s much livelier when most of the students are in town. All in all a pretty good weekend trip that I’ll probably do again. Congrats to the Badgers, btw!

As for the Field House, I didn’t expect it to be that…quaint. "Quaint?" It was built in 1930. It's on the National Register of Historic Places. What were you expecting?
