(Not to be a pizza snob, but OK, to be a pizza snob: the guy asking was, I think, a UCLA fan. I grew up in WI, my father owned a couple pizza places in the Fox Valley, and then I lived for 25 years in Los Angeles. Except for the rare place run by east coast transplants, you could literally get better pizza at O'Hare airport than you can find in Los Angeles. On the other hand, Chinese was just SOOO much better in LA.) The lack of great (even just good) Chinese options is a glaring hole in Madison's restaurant offerings A friend took me to "Taste of Sichuan" on State St not long ago, and their Kung Pao chicken was pretty good. They are somehow associated with the place on S Park St, the name escapes me right now. -------- Rainbow beat me to it - Ichiban was what I couldn't come up with.

The lack of great (even just good) Chinese options is a glaring hole in Madison's restaurant offerings Ichiban. Best Szechuan in town - by miles. When I'm in Wisconsin cities, I look for German restaurants. I've lived in the MIdwest and I know finding a good Chinese restaurant is like finding a $100 bill lying on the ground.

We should find out from Orzol and Civita if they've found any places that are remotely like 'back home'.

I think this goes to the Badgers should they play at the level that they expect from themselves. UCLA is a good team and I admire the play of Mac May and Zoe Fleck, but the Badgers may just be too much. It will be a blowout. Ok, maybe not a blowout, but a nice comfortable 3-0 sweep. One little detail I forgot to mention. In UCLA's last match, Charitie Luper was playing as a DS. I did a double take when I saw her there because the rumor was she was out for the season. I assume she wasn't used in the front row because the injury that kept her out of the lineup was related to jumping. If UCLA can use her in the front row against Wisconsin, then that's going to make UCLA a tougher out for Wisconsin. I still see it 3-0, but set scores could be tighter.

I’m thinking Wisconsin will win 3-1. Bruins have shown they can be a tough serving team and get opponents out of system to make easy defensive plays. However the block of Wisconsin is just too big/disciplined. UCLA is way too predictable with 2/3rds of sets going to the left side (and if Luper is back, make that 3/4ths) and the sooner Wisconsin picks up and starts leaning towards that way the faster it’ll all be over. I’m excited to see how May steps up from the last time she played Wisconsin, but I still think she gets blocked a ton and hopefully doesn’t get too deflated.

I didn't pay much attention to the match but she did rotate front row a few times against UCF.

They set her a few times out of the back row out of desperation and all of her swings were chips and roll shots, with one of them luckily tooling the block and finding the floor. She looked pretty good in hitting lines tho but I’m guessing she’s no where near 100%

Not a restaurant, but there is a Polish meat market right off 39 in Endeavor, Wisconsin, about 55 minutes north of Madison called Andy's Deli. They supply a lot of places in Chicago and Milwaukee and had a bunch of sausage options I have never seen elsewhere. Everything I have had from them is good.

FYI: I haven't seen anything official, but I assume there will be open-practices on Wednesday, open to the public. And if they follow the same schedule and seeding order as last week. it would be Baylor at noon for 90 minutes, a ten minute break, then Minnesota for 90 minutes at 1:40, then UW at 3:20 and UCLA at 5 PM.

All the sets to her were pure desperation because everyone was out of position.

I'm starting to think we need a 2021 NCAA D1 Women's Volleyball Tournament Pizza Source thread. (Not to be a pizza snob, but OK, to be a pizza snob: the guy asking was, I think, a UCLA fan. As well as a lot of bad pizza, which you can find anywhere. But I'm not going to be in Wisconsin. I was just responding to the comment of someone else.
