Ooh. Welcome to the dark side. we just pray Hoffman doesn’t eat Gabriel’s block alive and everything should be okay! Cant wait to actually be cheering for when fields and Eggleston do their over the top of the block OOS swings that shouldn’t be possible

Claire does well with big blocks by fooling them IMO. She’s more crafty than bush, so I’d give her the bigger assignment in a bigger block.

Emoni's responsibility is basically stopping the OPP and cleaning up the OOS. We have Sam on the front row and Claire from the back row for offense outlets.

Sorry, but no. Texas' dan Kansas' non-conference schedule was night and day. Texas was rewarded for playing a tougher non-conference schedule; the committee sent a message that clearly a lot of teams still don't understand. I lean more toward the idea that the actual message is "be Texas or Penn State or Stanford or Nebraska, because we will always try to find a justification for why these teams should be seeded more highly". It especially helps that they play each other almost every year, which then is used to justify the whole group as being elite because they play other elite teams. The last part of this is a bit confusing. The committee doesn’t consider these teams elite just because they play each other every year. They consider them elite because when they aren’t playing each other, they’re beating everyone else. To get there, you have to schedule good teams and occasionally win, which some schools do better than others.

Considering that was Kelsey Plum who was heavily featured there, and she graduated back in 2017, I think we can assume that the video is not recent.

I will die with you on that hill. The year Texas got the 4 seed and Kansas got the 5 seed, when KU won the Big 12 in a full round robin of play was complete bullsh!t. As it turned out, KU go upset in the 2nd round and Texas would have hosted regardless. Conference standings need to carry some weight. Sorry, but no. Texas' and Kansas' non-conference schedules were night and day. Texas was rewarded for playing a tougher non-conference schedule; the committee sent a message that clearly a lot of teams still don't understand. except, of course, when it DOESN'T apply..... like this year *Pitt had the better non-conference schedule than Texas, but the committee still seeded Texas higher. Pitt had 3 top 25 wins and 8 top 50 wins non-conference, Texas had 2 top 25 wins and 6 top 50 wins. *Kentucky scheduled 4 RPI top 25 teams and 7 RPI top 50 teams non-conference, had a higher actual RPI and fewer losses than Purdue who scheduled 1 RPI top 25 team and 5 RPI top 50 teams non-conference but the committee still seeded Purdue higher *Georgia Tech scheduled 4 RPI top 25 teams and 6 RPI top 50 teams non-conference and also had a higher RPI and fewer losses compared to Purdue's resume but the committee still seeded Purdue higher So, lets not pretend that the whole reward for playing tougher non-conference is actually applied equally, because it's not.

Watching the Washington v Illinois match, only through set 1. I know there have been changes since and it’s early in the season. Observations: Washington serves tough, nice job of serving hard deep and short. Texas passing has to be adequate. Illinois was out of system considerably and with the Washington size routinely hit out abounds trying to avoid the block. When Illinois was in system and ran fast Washington struggled laterally to block. Run the offense fast enough to beat the block or tool off the outside. Texas won’t be able to simply jump over a front line of 6’4. In set 1 Illinois wasn’t n system enough to run fast very often. Your tip must be well placed and not obvious, with Washington’s length you have to drop it right behind the blocker otherwise their length will cover pretty easily, if they have to take the extra step you have a better shot. Illinois was so error prone it was hard to see how Washington played extended rally’s. Texas will have to force long rally’s with transition offense. Nothing that tells me this isn’t another Final 4 capable team. Other observations: Texas has to do a better job on block /block touches. Washington isn’t the most athletic front line but when your 6’4 and boppers you don’t have to be the most athletic. At that height without a block touch the ball is coming down too sharp. Texas shot selection. Jhenna has been dealing very nicely and it must continue. Logan, Skylar and Molly have done a good job of placement and that has to continue. Iosia, Parra, Petersen need to be on their a game. I expect plenty of balls high and deep off block touches which we have struggled covering. Look for Washington to tip over the block if they catch the back row playing deep. Which we also haven’t been playing very well although I have seen some improvement.
